I just got this exhaust system done about two weeks ago. It flows amazingly and sounds damn great. It's loud enough to enjoy but not loud to the point where driving the car is annoying or cancels out your music. I love it so far and it really gave the SR what it needed, great exhaust flow. I just painted it black yesterday and I love the way it turned out. It is a full 3-inch system, mandrel bent, aluminized steel. I'm going to try to get some good video clips up soon
Before it was painted:

are you serious man? I hope this is a parody, and even that wouldn't be cool
While it's cool that you like what you've done, at least give us documentation so we could know what you're talking about.

Are there internal bafflings on the muffler or is it straight through?

Your swap looks clean, if you did not wire the car yourself where did you get the swap done?
The exhaust is nice. I am getting tired of my apex'i cannon.

It was $500 out the door. He may have to modify the exhaust some as it hits that tow hook. The exhaust itself sounds amazing and has no baffles or rasps.
RnD in Montbello did the work and yea, they did a great job.
If anyone is interested in this system I could get him to make them and of course I would have him work on the bend there.

Because I hate the look of a single tip exhaust and their exhaust isn't a 3 inch. Also I'm not so sure you get a hi-flow cat with the system thats guranteed for life....*shrug*
Yea...that is my Z. Trying to sell her.

80mm = 3.15"
i like your system but that 90* has to go. other than that its one of the best looking custom exhausts ive seen on a 240
i do like dual tips better than single tips, but sacrificing flow? i guess...seems a little ricey to me, going for looks before performance.
get that 90 bend out of there and then ill give you full props (and drool factor) :p

Having a 90deg bend in the piping has the same drag coeff. as putting 25ft of extra piping.

I was totally thinking of getting rid of my GPSPorts Spec-D exhaust and having a custom muffler shop do the same thing.
$500 is kind of pricey though but the work looks great. I live in Norcal and I don't want to be hasseled by the cops so to keep everything low-key is exactly what I'm looking for. Looks good though man, props!!!!!!:yum:

Glad to see you got your car back and it looks great. I dig the exhaust, it's definitely stealth, and probably still delivers great performance. We gotta meet up so I can get a ride in your car. (like I need any more of a push to do the swap!) Come on, you know you want to buy my DT-05R's now! :naughty:
cheers,

HAh, you still haven't sold those? Damn man....well, I love my RP01s so that ain't going to happen.
So....I really don't think thats really bothering flow much but I can get this fixed....can any of you guys put up pics to show me what that bend should look like. Thanks guys.

Funny you mention that. I'm all for performance over apparance. If you look at my car that should be completely evident to someone like you. Not one thing on my car is for looks before performance. Everything was done for a purpose and the exhaust system was no exception. The whole exhaust system from the turbo back is 3 inches mandrel bent which is probably more than enough air flow but that bend still does bother me, and its not a problem...if I can find a better solution it can be fixed.

yeah yeah im not trying to suggest your a ricer im just saying that for the money, having dual tips just for the look instead of buying a RS*R single tip without the 90* is leaning in the direction. no seriously your car is nice and im not gonna start talking shit about it or you(especially since im kind of a noob here). i was emphasizing my point about bends in exhaust sucking. thats all. and about my opinion that i woulda got the RS*R instead if it were me, but your not me so its a moot point. if you get rid of the bend, then that exhaust > RS*R

looks great man.
What I was going for was the completely stock look and IMO the single tip just looks ugly on the s13. Wanting to keep a stock look, I went with a dual tip. It pisses me off that you would (not poster of this reply) comment on the "Riceyness" of this exhaust when its nothing close. I am asking for a picture of the exhaust systems on an s13 that don't have that bend so it can be corrected. I may have overpayed some for it but I'm happy with it. One good thing about having this shop do it is that they'll stand behind their work and if a better design is found, they will correct it without charge. Same goes with the parts that I bought from them. To be honest....I'm not even sure that there will be any difference in having that bend or not especially considering 3" is overkill for my setup and many setups out there running a 3".

you have just done what honda heads have been doing the past 2-3 years stock looking mufflers with larger piping. Are you truly getting harassed that bad in your area. Anyways, good job. Nice look keep it clean.

Sadly I am man...and around here they don't play around with SRs. The areas I usually drive in are cool but the city I have to drive through some times to get to the gym and what not is filled with Nazi Cops...sucks.

That would be the only !!! exhaust that i would run on a daily driven s13/14 with a sr or rb.
My goal would be a s14 with a version kit, aragasta coils, gram light 57 pros, (18's) with a black front mount, Rb25det, t3 60/2 turbo, full interior, a nice system, stop techs all around, suportive mods, and you have a great daily.

When Summer comes around, I'm going with a black front mount, should be awesome. Still loving the looks on peoples faces when they get left in my rear view. Not only does looking stock keep the cops away but it also surprises people.

Luke how could you go balls out with aragosta coilovers, then cop out with a VS kit. Go authentic!!! unless you plan on driving the daily like your FD

Can someone post an S13 exhaust without a 90 degree bend for this dude (and me... in the near future).
I find it hard to believe that a shop put that bend in there on a 500 dollar exhaust. At least they'll change it for free. It looks good though, that bend just makes my peepee soft.
Animosity
01-13-2006, 09:43 AM
Yea, I agree on this bend...but like I said its probably not making all that much of a difference since it is 3 inch piping on a setup that doesn't need 3 inch. Anywho.

sleeper look is good enough. Maybe a better bend in the piping instead of the 90 deg. would be a plus. But if everything is all good with you, then it's all good with me. :bigok: How's the muffler sound though? Does it hum like a greddy sp or what>?:coolugh:

Would you happen to have the part number for that Magnaflow muffler... I think it looks good. I'm planning on weldinging up a sleeper exhaust myself. I've been running the stock catback with a 3" electric cutout... I love this setup for ultimate stealth but the cutout valves always break.

I like the concept , hate the bend. Yes you paid to much for that exhaust. There are a couple of shops local here in socal that could have hooked you up with that setup for around $200-300. Max.
Anyways, respect where your coming from dual tips definitely hide the fact.

Well....the muffler was at least 100 (not much cheaper), and the hi-flow cat was 100, both great quality and guranteed for life. Once I have the time to get my car over to him, that bend will be fixed. I did spend a little more than I wanted but that is OK, I should be making up for it with a few things I'm selling. No big really
