my tip to you is to smoke!!!...haha...i feel you man...its much harder than people think...and yes, i know there are much harder things to knock, but i put this high in that list...
try eating a lot...or have a puff and put it out, just to get it in your system for the day...actually, probably not a good idea taking tips from a smoker...lol

Everytime you feel the need to smoke a cigarette, go smoke your tires. Once you realize how much money you are wasting by "smoking" you'll give up, and quit. :D
Either that, or find a friend like me. A friend a few years back told me he wanted to quit, but didn't think he could. I asked him if he was serious about quitting, and if he wanted my help. He answered "Yes, of course". So for the next week, everytime I saw him smoking, I would walk up and punch him dead in the chest. Usually causing him to collapse to the ground, and have trouble breathing for a few minutes. He quit by Friday. Bastard never thanked me though. :-/

I quit for 5 days this newyears.. then went to hang out with my buddies in my old hometown.. ended up smoking 5 Newports lastnight.. good way to come back into smoking eh?
But i noticed.. trying to cut the cravin is hard.. but once your over that hump.. u tend to notice u DONT need one after a meal.. u DONT need one after a drink.. u Dont need one when ppl are socially smoking.. but u DO need one when you get a ticket!!! haha good luck dude.. i just broke my promise to myself.. but i got a new 1 now.. JUST CUT BACK!
Also.. if your commited to getting healthy.. (running.. working out persay..)
that is a great motivation by itself.. you cant run if your smoking like a chimney!! TRUE?

You need to really think of it as being mind-fucked and realize that you are letting a worthless substance run your life. I smoked for 6 years and realized that I was so damn weak that a pack of cigarrettes was dictating a good portion of my life with no results to show. If anything, do it to prove to yourself that you are better than being controlled.

I wouldn't know how hard it is to stop smoking because I have never started but I can tell you what stopped my grandparents, dying. But if that doesn't stop you just find something else to fill your time or add up how much money it's costing you to continue smoking and find something else to spend that money on.

man, i really feel u on this one......i go to an automotive college, and EVERYONE smokes....and we have 6 breaks a day so u can imagine how many that is.......but i havent had a cig since dec 18!! just eat a snack, i found that peanuts are pretty good to suppress the craving, and if that doesnt help just think of yourself as a little bitch, being beat up by some stupid little shithead(cigarette) wouldnt want that would u?lol

add up how much money it's costing you to continue smoking and find something else to spend that money on.
i did that. it seems it's enough money to moderately annoy me, but not enough to persuade me to quit and apply it towards car parts. I guess I always adopt the attitude of "meh, I can afford it."

There's a shot they're "developing/researching" called NicVAX, dunno if it works but I'd like to give it a try. Saw it on the news the other day.

smoked heavily for about 2 years, im 21 now...but i have been smoke free for a month. i just one night realized that i didnt want to smoke anymore and gave away my pack, plus every 10 dollars a day adds up quite fast. quitting was actually rather easy once i realized that it didnt really do shit for me and its quite harmful to my health. good luck to those of you who are trying to quit, sounds cliche but you can do it...

Having one of my lungs collapse and then, having the thoracic surgury to fix it worked for me. Get someone to poke a big-ass hole in your chest. You'll quit ...and you'll be happy about it.

heres one of the techniques i used to help my friends stop smoking.. when your at a restaurant.. or whenever you can.. and your smoking.. take a white napkin. and inhale one puff and then blow into the white napkin.. it will leave a disgusting black tar/nicotene mark on the napkin.. if you picture that.. that is just from one puff... and that is after its gone and filtered through your lungs..
quite a few of my friends have stopped cold turkey after that.. good luck

Watch people in NC outside on breaks from work in the winter:
they're gathered around in what I like to call a "smoker's huddle," where everyone is joined together REALLY close to one another showing off the fact that giving yourself cancer is a TEAM sport.
Personally, the fact that anything can control someone to do some shit like that in 20 degree weather will either act as a deterrent or a motivator to me. Meaning I will either use it as my reason for not having ever smoked, or I will try to find some way to profit from it. I am still working on the second part of that.

Hmm.. after hearing about my smoking for over a year from my ex- , I decided that I'd stop.
Right at that time - I was looking for a set of wheels, and my friend was selling his Volks. So, I said to myself, if I bought those wheels, it'd be the same ammount of money as me not smoking for a year. Later that day, I bought the "smoke away" knockoff pills from Ebay for like $30 or so (just ebay smoke away, and it'll pop up). They tasted like shit, and when I burped (which was alot on those fucking things), you'd get to taste it again.
After 3 days of being on the pills, I stopped smoking and stopped taking the pills. Haven't smoked in a year and a half (except at parties when drinking I'll have 1-2 cigarettes throughout the night and wake up feeling kicked in the chest).
