I'm ASE A4, A6, A8, and L1 certified.

Pay depends on your employer.

Experience is pretty much anything automotive related.

Classes at community colleges can assist you to pass the course, but it does not guarentee your ability to educate yourself.

Take the course to help you pass the test.

passing a test and being knowlegable in what you passed in is two different things

C grade A grade might both be passing but one of those 2 you know more about what you wrote/studied then the other.

Ok. I'l break it down to you. Third grade level.

ASE = Automotive Service Excellence

If you're interested in taking an ASE exam, there are college courses that can help you into passing the ASE test. If you do not understand the material your instructor teachers you, you'll have a smaller chance of passing or completing the ASE exams.

to get the certification you need 2 years experience and pass the exams

my initial question was, "what counts as experience, can I take classes at a cc and have them count as 'experience'?" thx

You can also take the test with ZERO experience. But you wont recieve your certification until you provide proof of experience.

I would think taking Automotive Courses at a CC counts for experience, cause experience is being able to do hands on work; getting your hands dirty. Thats what they're for, specifically to give you hands on opportunity (experience). Best thing to do is to work at a shop and attend school at the same time, that way you'll have all the required experience you'll need.
