I can get a set of these shocks off of an s13 at the junkyard for ten bucks a pop. They seem to be in pretty good shape.

Any way to tell who's make the springs are? As far as I can tell, they're stock springs (non-se), so I prolly won't bother.

Any information on these shocks would be appreciated.

I have KYB GR2 shocks with Intrax springs and they run very smooth for me...not that bad of a ride

well, for 10 a piece they're certainly worth it, but i'd be leary of used shocks because they're a part that wears out. Just like buying a used clutch imho. Unless your shocks are blown and you can't afford anything else, i'd save up for some KYB AGX or Koni Yellows.

Well, for ten bucks a piece, I'm trying to find if they'll be better than stock. I know it's a part that wears out, but if I can get three months of use I'll have my money's worth

Is there any way to tell the make of a spring? If the springs w/ this car are anything but the stock ones, I'll snag them as well.

KYB GR2's are good shocks. if they're "clean", then obviously not been on car long, should last plenty long.

What color are the springs, and are there paint "marks" on a few coils???

Springs are black. The back ones has green marks on them, front ones had orange. . . or vice versa. . . The shocks are pretty clean (hey, I could read the label, more than I could say would be possible on my shocks ). Slight discoloration around the welds, though they look decent other than that.

<edit> I'mma check out how to remove them at open shop tonight. Need to make sure I have the right tools when I go back to picknpull. It's great being able to put the car up on the lift :-) Anywhere I could find a how-to on removing the shocks? Or anybody with any quick advice? I'm pretty mechanically adept, and will have the other folks in shop to help if I need it. Just wondering if there are any tips to make it easier. . . Danke

if springs r black with paint marks they r most likely stock OEM.....most aftermarket springs r colored. shocks sound great.....go for it!
hardest part bout removing is compressing the springs to take assy apart to get struts & shocks out, cuz theyre both "coil over" design. if uwrenchit doesnt have spring compr tool, id suggest renting one (ie from Auto Zone).....makes life whole lot easier! :cheesy:
