Any suggestions for what I should eat for dinner tonight?
Something on the cheaper side of things would be better. I'm not thinking of going to Taylor's or anything. Something near Ktown LA.
Anyone know of any GOOD cheap food? :aw:

The Hat
Roscoes Chicken and Waffles!
not the cheapest, but definately worth pigging out at
suhster85

well money isnt really that huge of a concern. The hat and roscoes are fine. I was thinking more along the lines of Ruth Chris steak house and such.
I do love Pink's but I dont really feel like waiting in line for an hour...plus the driveway there is killer!
I'm korean so my friends want to eat Pho almost every week. I used to eat it more frequently when I was younger but I try to stay away from it nowadays.
I will definitely have to try some of these other places. They sound great.
Logan, if you want some korean food, namely BBQ, lets go to this place called Manna, its all you can eat Korean BBQ plus extras. Or we can go to this secret spot thats same style as Manna, but smaller, less crowded, and the food tastes better to.
Anyone know of anything not as far as Westwood? I know Westwood is not that far but sometimes I just dont feel like driving through all that traffic. I'm around Crenshaw and Wilshire.

BTW, close to Pinks there is a building thats being fixed and the sign says something about white castle...I hope its the real white castle cause that would be awesome.

Time to bring this thread back to the top. I know some places in Long Beach but I need some more. I know alot of Zilvians are cheap like me kinda so lets name some places that are cheap and good. Yesss unlike cars, some restaurants can have this combo of being cheap and good! :rawk:
Seafood Cove in Garden Grove, kinda ghetto but I like it.
Super Bowl in Cerritos, it's pretty good and its kinda like the spot to go.
Big E's Pizza in Long Beach, they deliver till 3am! Yes that's right. This is the spot when I'm drunk haha
Bai Plu something something and Aki's Sushi Bar. It's in Long Beach on 7th st, good thai food and nice workers. I like this place. They did Sake bombs for me last time and it wasnt listed in the menu lol. BBQ Duck Fried Rice :yum:
There's some others I go to in Garden Grove and Westminster n stuff but I can't remember the names or the street that it's on. I just remember where to exit and where to turn...go figure.
Anymore? I'm cravin some Pho tonight too.... and where are some good cheap Dim Sum places. People always tell me I gotta go to china town but I want some closer places

a recent fav find is K.T. cafe in alhambra; close between 2-4am.

Current fav 'all you can eat' korean bbq would prob be Mu Dung San in western & olympic. I'll have to try Tahoe next.

For Thai (or more like Thai Chinese) is Ruen Pair in Thai Town. place closes around 3AM
http://oishiieats.blogspot.com/2007/02/ruen-pair-post-surgery-update.html
For something more gourmet, but still at reasonable prices, i like Pete's cafe in downtown. close around 2am. I think they have one of the best burgers in LA right now. http://www.petescafe.com
I was also going to reccomend 'The Nook' in Santa Monica, but thats prob kinda far away. Again, their burger is also good.
I also really like the pizza at whole foods. very gourmet tasting, but suprisingly cheap.

^Dude, crazy to the person who said gabbys, I live right next door. Under constuction though wich gives me free parking :)....
Dude forget about pinks. Pinks suck and you're not on a train while eating. Got to Carney's....best burgers and dogs in town and get this, NO 3 hour line for underated hotdogs(my opinion).
Also around here is Natalie Thai, Baja Cantina, The Apple Pan, and THEE best sushi place in the world, The Sushi House. Its the only place that has a theme of reggae and sushi...and its boooommmbb. There's also Jerry's Deli, in westwood. Canters near melrose(that's near you kinda), Don Antonios on Melrose and Vista along with Goodfellas acroos the street. Hmmm tryna think of more places that's worth going too. And fr cheap mexican Chipotle. Oh and El Cholo and Toi Tai in santa monica. And in C-town ....I can't remember the name but its bomb a** Dimsum...I just know its in Lethal Weapon 4 when they're chasing the chinese delivery dude around chinatown.
Well that's all I can think of...oh wait!!!
Lawrys on La Cienega in beverely hill.s Bomb ass prime rib dinner for like 30 bux. Its boooooomb. And cheap but looks expensive!!!!

Pinks hotdogs!! oh yea...
pinks is nothing special AT ALL, totally over-hyped LA spot.... so typical LA.
meaning, if you want PINKS, you can get the SAME SHIT at Tommy's Burger, for 1/2 the price. PINKS is only good if you want to get kidnapped, like Brad Pitt. ;-)

Speaking of hot dogs, I like "The Stand" in Encino (think they have a branch in Studio City); Havnt been there in over 9 months, but it was good the last time i went; http://www.thestandlink.com/events/ Just avoid the downtown LA dog. its not as good as the real deal imo.

This man knows his Thai! Ruen Pair may seem Thai Chinese but it actually is very authentic Thai. Its very well known even over in Thailand. I only found out about because my Japanese girlfriend turned me onto it because of her Thai friends. Then my Thai friends complimented me on my knowledge of good Thai when I mentioned it!
As far as Pizza goes I am Italian American and Pizza was never meant to be gourmet. Get off the whole yuppie gourment whole paycheck bullshit.
You want decent Pizza in LA? Cheech's in Los Feliz on Hillhurst. Damiano's for the the late night. Village Pizza in Larchmont for a true New York slice that rocks! Rico's on Vermont for more true New York style slices as well.
Sushi? The best on the west coast hands down Sushi IKE on Hollywood and Gower. Though be prepared to get scolded if you try to order rainbow roll bullshit. Or frowned on if you order a spicy tuna roll not at the end of your meal. I.E. This place is a authentic Tokyo style Sushi bar and I have taken people there that said its better than the Sushi they got in Tokyo. Yup bold statement. IKE is a master and Okamase is they way to go if you can afford it.

Sooo many good places in this thread.
Alondra Wings in Paramount or Montebello - Azndoc and Alex showed it to me, and I didn't even like wings before that place - now its one of my all-time favorites! Cute waitresses too. Supposedly they have good pizza also, but I always stuff myself on wings (half 'honey BBQ' and half 'hot') and their seasoned fries.
Tony Romas - All over the place (but the one in Alhambra sucks) - my favorite restaurant. I dig ribs. They also have totally decent chicken and burgers, but I always get OG babybacks.
Marsten's - Pasadena, on Walnut by the courthouse (just east of Fair Oaks). Cute little shop, great sandwiches and salads. Always packed, but rarely a wait. Perfect for lunch.
I'll probably add some more when I get around to thinking about food again.
