vette vs. 240sx?

one of my friends was telling me that a vette could bet almost anything "bullshit" but anyways what would happen if lets say a modded out sr 240 raced a "new" vette who would win.
This friend is stuck on domestics thinks they can bet anything; annoys the fuck out of me.

Well lets see. A stock vs stock, vette wins. Spend some money on a 240, and with 300hp, i think u'd have a pretty good shot at it.... spend that amount of money on a vette, and there is no way you would catch up with it with your 300hp 240.... but then vette costs much more.... so 300 hp would prolly be enough to beat a stock vette.

ex.
vett = 40-50k sports car
240sx= 20k(?) sports compact
obviously there is a problem stoke vs. stock

I raced a c5 and a z06 in my s14 Turbo KA

The c5 I killed off the line to about 100mph. His 50 year old ass wanted to kill me after I humiliated him in front of his biatch. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

The z06 was on the highway and he pulled ahead consistently, but not by any extreme amount.

Oh yea, I ran 11psi, and Turbos have big advantages up here @ a Mile High in CO.

I have decided not to mod the s13. After having 3 s13's and one s14 I have decided I would rather have a s14 just because its a little bigger. I cant even fit my hockey sticks and bags in my coupe without the back seat down and sticks in the way of my shifter.

So I am going to puttz around in the jalopy s13 for some time until I can find the perfect 97-98, or until my timing chain goes, which will be soon <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> I can hear it loud even idleing at lights.

Not sure what engine im going to go for in the s14. I was leaning tword a RB20 or CA18 for the s13. But I might try the KA again if I find a low milage s14.

BTW, I love your car! I plan to get the front you have. Have you had any problems with it? I know Nite Kids brake awhile back.

weight: 3,115
hp: 405

1997 240:
weight: 2,800
hp: 300 (assume modded sr)

power/weight:
240: .107 hp/lb
Vette: .13 hp/lb

so maybe 300 aint enough... but to get equal ratio, you gotta have about 364hp on 240.... anyways then you can beat a stock vette <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> aint it exciting?

note: my initial guess was incorrect cuz i thought corvettes were much heavier than 3100 lbs...

I've heard of 11.9 with good drivers on some msg boards for the new z06 vette. At the very least mid-low 12s stock. 405 hp isn't anything to sneeze at. For the money it's probably one of the sweetest new cars around.

edit: I've also heard that they handle excellent (not that I've had a chance to drive one) and do quite well in auto-x superstock class.

Id say it depends on if your car could stay on the ground and how fast it would need to go to win the race.

A modified metro could beet the HKS 180SX in reality. It just all depends... there is no such thing as the fastest accelerating car, and its certinly not a Crapero SS.

Sorry, but a vette easily beats a silvia in the mountain passes. &nbsp;The vette is both faster and handles better. &nbsp;But so do many Ferraris, thats why this thread is dumb. &nbsp;

Why do people always make the assumption that american cars can't handle? &nbsp;Sure, no one is saying a neon is a great handling car but the vette is easily second if not first in superstock auto-x, which a lot of people consider a good judge of handling potential.

I agree Initial D is only a cartoon, but it's an anime that encourages skilled driving not just owning a fast car. &nbsp;Takumi wins races because he is skilled not because the AE86 is a superior car. &nbsp;It is merely well tuned. &nbsp;The message is that precise tuning and great skill will win over only higher HP. &nbsp;

Stock vs stock, the corvette will win no problem, but modify the 240 then it's a whole different story. If a turboed civic can kick a corvette's ass then a 240 should be just as capable.

im sorry to point you out man but that has to be one of the most rediculous things ive ever heard in my life (maybe after the guy who told me that cars pop wheelies cause air gets caught under the car <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':nervous:'> ....poor guy) anywho the zo6 is one of the "best handling" cars out there and certainly the best handling car in the US. 67.3 mph in the slalom .98g on the skidpad. &nbsp;the car has upper and lower a arms at all 4's (arguably the best suspension system setup) with 265 and 295 tires. &nbsp;the vette is an awsome handling car and would tear up a 240 in the twisties any day
