 Man do I hate UPS. Everytime I order from them my shipments get rescheduled/delayed. Usually only a day or two, but this time is just too much. My OBX helical differential was ordered on Friday, the 16th from an Ebay vendor. I had hoped to receive it by the next weekend. A reasonable expectation, I thought. Well, the diff didn't ship till Tuesday, and given holiday business, wasn't scheduled to arrive till Tuesday, the 27th. It's now the 29th, and not only has it not arrived, but it appears to be sitting at the same UPS facility it has been at since the 23rd. As you can tell below, it had an arrival scan, and has yet to depart from Hodgkins, IL. I can only imagine the ways in which they are defiling and violating my poor innocent differential. I mean, what the hell are they doing with it?? Just put it on a truck for goodness sake! I beseech all you Zylvia vendors... Please, please, please stop using this fraud of a company. There are several better shipping companies out there. [/RANT]

On a related note: Where can I pick up some gear marking compound locally? Would any parts house sell it? Or auto service shop? I'd rather pick it up then order it. I'm installing the unit myself and have appropriate digital calipers and runout guage, but I need some marking compound. Thank you for your patronage.

You seem like a competant mechanic, and yet still spelled Zilvia wrong?
WTF?
Anywho, if I were you I'd call UPS and make sure they have a correct address for you, because the last few times I've purchased things from vendors and they've used UPS as their carrier, they've messed up my shipping due to the vendors not providing UPS with the correct address.

UPS SUX. I never have good experience with them. I used to order alotta parts a few years ago for my eclipse. The first time I made a big (for me at the time at least) order the bastards left the shit on my doorstep. I didn'y live in the hood or anything but it definatly wasn't a "nice" area and I hade shit stolen before.
So the next time I go to order something I tell the place I'm ordering it from, "Please don't send it UPS." That was the only shipping company they used. Well I said can you please put a special note in the directions NOT to leave it on my doorstep and require a sig. Well the day it was supposed to come I'm waiting and waiting home all day. I finally go outside for something AND THE SHIT IS SITTING ON MY DOORSTEP. The MUTHER FUCKER didn't even ring my doorbell. So I take my package upstairs and look at the directions. It said right on it, REQUIRES SIGNITURE and he still left it. FUCK UPS! I hate them with a passion.
Moral of the story is...for the vendors...UPS sucks and pisses off customers...

Always double check the address. I had FEDEX try to tell me my street didnt exist one time. All because of an extra space between words.

Yeah. The nub UPS delivery person left a note on the apartment below mine, which is 113, and mine was 213. So much for reading.
And as for the one time they put my address wrong, I didn't get anything for like 3 days, but on their website it said that they tried 3 times, so I finally called UPS, and the guy on the phone told me the address they have for me says apartment 231, which didn't exist. So I told them to change it to 213 and the next day it showed up.
I think it all comes down to the actual truck drivers/delivery personnel.
If they're nub or teh suck, it really doesn't matter what company they work for.

You can't trust ups's tracking site 100%. Alot of places your package will go through people won't scan it and so it'll look like it's states away when the guys ringing your bell.

Kinda like the Orlando International Airport.
Went to pick my gf up from there, and the monitors showed that her flight was still "in range".
Look up at the hallway where people getting off flights come out of, and there she is smiling at me.
WTF?

i heard from a couple of people that ups treats their employee's like shit. If I worked for a company like that, i definitely would not care how i do my job honestly.

I did a telephone survey job for a while (being under 18 rapes the job market for you) and we surveyed FedEx independent contractors for like a week straight. UPS is golden compared to FedEx, at least in the eyes of FedEx people. This is in regard to how they treat employees, not regarding how shitty UPS is at getting me my stuff intact and on time. USPS has even failed me before, most recently when they sent my EXPRESS MAIL package sent to me from New York to Orlando, FL, to Ft. Myers, FL, back to Orlando FL, then BACK TO Ft. Myers over the course of 5 days before it finally got to my house. :loco:

ALL the shipping companies leave shit on the doorstep, UPS, FEDEX, USPS, DHL, etc. unless you specifically bitch about that not happening and then its up to the person sending your shit to guarantee that and from there its the delivery guys problem to carry through. I live in a nice neighborhood, so it doesnt bother me that much. This time of the year is a bitch for shipping and receiving packages anyway. Last thing I got from UPS, went from Texas, to New Orleans just in time for Katrina to obliterate the place so my package was delayed 3-4 weeks. :(

DOH!!!... the 4th one came the next day.
I work for UPS. Sorry this happend to you. I suggest you go in person to your local UPS and talk with customer service.
Anways, for everyones refrence:
1. Good luck finding another company to ship through, they're fcking everywhere. UPS is the shipper for almost everyone.
2. Irregularly sized packages (we call ERegs) are handled diffrently than normal packages.
3. If you ship Next day the less hands your package goes through, so the less chances of it messing up.
4. Make sure that your packages are very well packed with bubblewrap, foam, anything to esnure it arrives in once piece.
5. If the driver keeps leaving it at your door (and you dont like that) leave a sign on your door to inform the driver. Usually the driver that services your area is the same guy, and he will probally remember in the future.
You can't trust ups's tracking site 100%. Alot of places your package will go through people won't scan it and so it'll look like it's states away when the guys ringing your bell.
This is very true.

Well, if they're a Union employee they should just report bad treatment. Thing is half the people working there are young punks that dont know that. If a supervisor treats you bad you can get them fired easily since they're not protected under the Teamster Union. Most people think its a cake job but it isn't and its very fast paced, lots of supervisors hustle you, but I'd just ignore them. Its and industrial-warehouse-factory-assembly line type of environment. Its not like working at Krispy Kreame like many people expect?

I used to work for UPS and the gruntwork is anything but easy.
Good fuckin workout, I'll tell ya that.
Then, I moved to sort. woo woo
Anyway, on topic.. UPS isnt bad for me. 'cept they cant get into my building at all, so I try to avoid using them whenever possible.

i work at a jewelry store; ups's insurance coverage is way better than fedex's. the ups driver we get is a really nice guy too. the fedex guy always seems like he has a broomstick up his ass.

So basically, like I said, a lot of times it comes down to the actual delivery person.
If he's a nub that don't give two shits about people's packages, then yeah, you probably will get broken parcels everytime.
If he's a cool dude, then you'll get your stuff in 1 piece, and they might even carry it into your garage for you (guy dollied the wheels into my garage once at my parents' house and I helped 1 guy carry 2 wheels up to my 2nd story apartment, both were cool as hell).
And the young punk comment is true, one of my ex-roomates worked at the Orlando UPS with his friends, and I know for a fact they treated it as a cake walk job, so I'm sure packages were messed up or not scanned due to them.

San Bruno hub? I'm a sorter there, soon to be supervisor.:w00t:
As for the thread starter, there are a large range of possibilites. It's still peak season for most of the hubs in the country so maybe that facility is backed up. I know for a fact that Cache, IL and Hodgkins, IL are major UPS hubs in Illinois. Also, not all packages are scanned for one reason or another and if that's the case, the tracking status of the package would be useless since it could be well on its way even if the tracking information has shown its arrival scan in Hodgkins. Lastly, since the delivery date has come and gone, maybe the label was destroyed. In this case, they would send your package to the 'Unknown Label Overgoods Facility." It's probably not what you wanted to hear; I'm just outlining the possibilities.

I definitely will agree it is NOT an easy job. I tried to tip my UPS guy since I have a lot of bmx parts and car parts always coming and I work off tips so I like to be generous and he denied. Made me feel sortta bad since I really just wanted to be nice and it was more of a gesture then anything but ya know how it is. I'm sure his pay is good anyway =)

Yeah, really depends on the UPS person. I think they're a decent company, they've only messed up a handful of times in all the years I've dealt with them.

Well, I contacted UPS via email. Sent a response apologizing for the delay and saying that they checked the status and that the item missed it's delivery date(obviously) and that further investigation would have to be initiated by the shipper. So I mailed the shipper and he says he'll call today. Hopefully it'll work out.
I think I'm just unlucky regarding my UPS shipments. Perhaps it's my location. My delivery guy is just fine, but the package has to get to him before it can get to me. My experiences with Fedex have been pleasant and often faster than expected. I've shipped often with Newegg. They use Fedex. You will not find more compliments regarding shipping than looking through Newegg reviews. I am just one person though. Perhaps for one of me, there are ten others with exactly the opposite experience. Who knows?
I'm sorry I mispelled Zilvia. It won't happen again... although I kinda like it better spelled Zylvia. <<-Woops, I lied. Om goene ta gow dryve mie 204xs Zinke naw. Layder awl.

Icecreamdan, You are right. I looked thru Newegg reviews and they do mention Fedex and UPS now. My stuff always came Fedex, but I haven't ordered from there in nearly a year. I thought they were almost exclusively Fedex.
Edit: Found this on the testimonials page:
NEWEGG RULES!
they switched from fedex to UPS recently... which i thought was REALLY bad. of course, i realized that they got it here a day later... HOWEVER... i NEVER had to go anywhere to get it, in case i wasnt home at the time they came! fedex wont drop off a package without a signature, UPS WILL!
also, NEWEGG PROCESSES SO FAST! its shipped the VERY next day at the LATEST!
also, cheapest prices i can EVER FIND! for ANY of the products!
Status still unchanged. After this weekend passes, it'll be about a week overdue. I hope the seller/shipper follows thru like he said. In the event that he does not, who bears ultimate responsibility here? I ordered a 400+ part. If it does not arrive to me, and the Ebay seller lets it go, what would be my best course? I don't expect that to happen, but I don't think I could just let it go...

If you have a tracking number, then I'd suggest calling UPS HQ.
I called the number on the back of the UPS "oops we missed you can you weren't home" ticket thing, and I talked to one of their customer service people, and they pretty much helped me out right then and there, as long as I had a valid UPS tracking number.
You should try that.
I told my gf to call UPS and yell at them cause they fucked up on one of her packages that needed to be express shipped to begin with, and after much yelling, she got them to ship the item again next day. Free of charge.

Stick it to the man sosideways, stick it to the man.
Usually if you call with a tracking number, they do all in there power to set things right.
Just be nice to the delivery guys and they will treat you and your packages good.
^^^^This man knows his shit. My UPS will flag me down in traffic if I'm not at home and he sees me before he heads back to the warehouse. Plus he's ALWAYS on time, he's never been late dropping things off at my house. He delivers at the sametime everytime I have something coming.
Also, if they dont deliver on time its free...if you complain. They'll give you credit towards your next shipment. If thats any help.
