You probably didn't have it tight enough before and so it was leaking air and the turbo was just spooling into the air. Now that you've tightened it everything's working normal, and that's why you're noticing the noises now.

Yeah that sound about right.
Now u have to find out why your car sounds like lasers every time you let off the gas...Oh wait it's because u have a greddy type s. Who ever likes the sound it makes can go :jerkit: sorry, just my opinon. So please stop playing laser tag with everyone on our local highway....

Dkeeper, next time please state your opinion without insulting the Thread Starter. You can comment on the quality of the product all you want, but ne need to tell him "If he likes he can go jerk off".

The type S in my experience with multiple setups has worked wonderfully. The only things obviously I suggest are when recircing, to take out the one spring, set the adjustment screw 1/4" from the nut, and to teflon tape the fittings as well.
There will be times where the valve has a tendency to make a 'swinging' laser sond at part throttle boost/letting of gas, but aside from that it's a great little unit!

I had the type-s on my SRT-4 and was driven insane by the brake-squealing noise it made on closed-throttle deceleration. Nowhere in the acceptable (to my turbo) range of adjustment could get it to significantly reduce the frequency or volume of the sound, so I sent it back for a Type-RS. Much better BOV.

Make sure you don't adjust it so much that the piston only pulls back like 2 or 3 millimeters.
I could only get the 1 Type-S that I was going to buy to close quickly for better throttle response by tightening it all the way down so it'll only open like 3mm max. I had a slight compressor surge at 9psi on the stock T25. That's how bad it was.
My BOV now has its own dedicated vacuum line now though, so I'd like to give those ones a try again soon. I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Greddy Type-R though. Best BOV IMHO.

Just my opinion...I have mine so tight that I get minimal compressor surge up and through 3,000 RPM shift..it doesnt release unless I am pver 3,500 RPM on shifts. I am running atmospheric though so that is the main reason.. Releasing at low RPM's just jacks my AFR up even with the Decel Air Set....A little compressor surge isnt bad...

imo... get a pull type BOV

I have a Type S...thing works almost like stock for me (it is recirculated though). I don't have it set very tight either and I didn't remove the inner spring. All I did was connect that second nipple to the IC (on the cold side). I hear no laser sounds...I barely hear it at all?

the only time tha ti hear the laser sound is when im barely boosting ( 1psi-4psi) but when im above 5 psi its just a wooosh!
i was told by the guy that did my swap that it was normal for the laser sound when its barely boosting becaus ehe says there isnt enough pressure or something like that IIRC
