what are the advantages of relocating your battery. I see a buncha of 240's that has the SR20DET swap have these relocated batteries.

From what i gather
The SR20 is a bit bigger engine with a turbo and all
Moving the battery to the trunk will free up space in the engine bay, making it look neater, and when you are working with the intercooler piping , it will be much easier and fit smoother...
p.s not to mention its jus cool

it helps you master your drifts better my son

also u free up weight from the front to more evenly disperse it

and the others that coldsun mentioned

basically, what they said, and then some.

for the sr, i guess it frees up space. but more importantly, it improves weight distribution, and by putting more weight over the drive wheels, increases traction...

weight distribution man! weight! also the turbo piping runs through the battery's location in the sr20. so either you get a much smaller battery, or u swap in to the back for a better weight distribution

Main reason is ppl put front mount intercooler which the stock battery would get in the way. So either relocate or find a smaller battery.

i would think moving something as heavy as a battery would switch our 53/47 weight distribution real real close to 50/50. perfect weight distribution is oh so nice, most all sports cars try to get that, but very very few achieve it. it makes such a difference i get asessed 1 point in MCSCC high speed autox, the same point asessment as adding an exhuast. so obviously more people than just me think it's pretty important.

i moved mine only for one rreason, because the oil filter got in the way.
no drifting reasons here.

do you have a filter relocation kit? how did the oil filter get in the way of the batter?

(obviously if you have line lock, you more than likely don't care shit about about drifting.. lol)

How difficult is it to relocate your battery? what extra things do you need to do this? Thanks

How do you mount the Battery in the back? Can you post some pictures of yours if you've done it?

ya, i didnt really have any other location to put the oil filter. it is an oil filter relocation kit. B&M Import one. it fits all import threads i think.
here is a pic of the trunk.

Hey boosteds14, where did you run the power wire for the battery? I assume you ran it underneeth the car (alongside n02?)...if so, did you do anything to protect it from debries? If not, where did you put it through the firewall?
Where did you put the ground wire?

Also, how exactly did you fasten the strap around the box to the board in the trunk?

OT: boosteds14, what psi is n02 at in the bottle?

i would strongly sway anyone from running something as vital as the pwer wiore underneath the car. its much eaiser thru the firewall grommets and inside

much easier to protect.

the power wire went through the firewall under the carpet into my trunk. i simply drilled a hole through the firewall

how i fastened the battery? with screws of course
and i forgot what psi the n20 is. i sold it
no need for it any more

um.. i dont have a pic so i cant show u

i used that huge connector thingy that audio people uses to connect huge gauge wire. i dont know the name of it and i dont really want to get a pic. go to an audio installation place, they can point u in the right direction.
