I have a few questions, as I am not sure what to do. There are two scenarios:
1)I may get a 91 240sx fastback for about $2k and swap in an S13 SR20DET. How hard would parts be to get for it (realistically, no biased answers, please), like, simple parts, not performance upgrades? Don't places like srswap.com stock up on parts? How many miles do these engines usually have on them, and how hard would it be to swap this into your engine with help in a month's time? Or how much would a shop install cost?
2)I may get a 95/96 240SX (prolly swap in the S15 front or the S14a front <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> ), but if the mileage was decent, I might just turbo that engine. I have plenty of knowledge on turbos and whatnot (was gonna turbo my previous car), but how reliable would it be, compared to the SR20? Personally, I would be happy with 200-250whp, nothing outrageous (daily driver). Where can I find turbo kits for the 240?
And one last question:
I live in Virginia, in a county where we don't have emissions tests, just yearly inspections. Would I have a better chance of passing with the SR20 or the KA-T? Or would it not matter, since emissions doesn't matter? How much would insurance be on a swapped/turbo engine? How much trouble would I be in if I wrecked and the engine wasn't insured?
Holy newbie questions, batman!
