Modified exhaust ticket in LA.

I got a modified exhaust ticket along with no front license plate, tinted windows, and speeding, the cop only allowed fix-it for the (no front license plate).for the others I will have to go to court, anyone know the process when something like this goes in front of the judge? why the hell did the cop not give me a fix it?
I dont wanna loose my car I have a 97 240 w a S14 motor swap. and just got a vertex ridge kit and new paint job!
any thing you know will help!

first u gotta go to the court appointed in the ticket, go to the traffic window and say u wanna see a judge, theyll give u a court date, the first judge will ask you "guilty, not guilty, or no contest (no contest just means u cant get sued)" u say not guilty, then youll go to court another date to defend ur case, and the cop will be there and then u can ask THAT judge if u can just fix ur exhaust, GOOD LUCK!

What did he pull you over for in the first place?

Here is some advice.

- Put a front plate on, and leave it on.
- Remove your illegal-ass tint and re-tint it per the legal limits.
- Put on stock exhaust, go to BAR Ref and have them dB test it.

Once you've done all that, go to court and laugh in their faces cause they ain't got shit on you.

PS - You swapped a S14 motor into your S14? Be more specific. I assume you mean SR20. If so you are fucked, pay the fine.

PPS - Let this be a reminder... dont illegally tint your windows, rock no front plate, and loudass exhaust in CA, esp. with a swap.. you're basically asking for it.

You say in L.A. Where in Los Angeles a lot of people put L.A. in there info but do not actually live in the City of Los Angeles. I ask this because you have to be pretty damn blatant inside Los Angeles to get pulled over and sited for that stuff.
Do not freak about the ticket the judge will fine you for the exhaust and possibly allow you to fix it, to reduce the fine to a $10 fit it charge.He will also ask you if you want to take traffic school to keep it off your record. You will pay the fine for speeding and the cost of traffic school and it will not go on your record.
Be careful about pleading not guilty, if you did get the ticket in Los Angeles, L.A. cops do show up for court, they get paid to. The judges will side with the cops. If your guilty of speeding cop to it and take the traffic school.
You will not lose your car. You did not get a referee ticket.

dude i had recievde a ticket for no proof of insurance, modified exhuast *cop marked non correctible* and lowered ride hieght.. Since then i got my proof of insurance, changed rims completely and had my exhuast tested at a BAR ref..

what my dumbass did was miss the court date.. i bearly checked online for the date and it was just the day b4 i checked it.. =( . so i got a fine of over $1k, but i rescheduled a court date. I hope I dont have to pay that $1k...

you cant fix the no proof of insurance. you are going to have to pay that one. I got the sameone. the only way to fix it is to get a insurance card that says you had insurance on the day you got the ticket like i did. also where did you get the ticket it at?

the cop said i can just show up to court with proof of insurance as long as I had insurance during that time (which i did, I had just lost the paper at that time)..

I hate driving on the 60 i bet the same cop that stopped you stopped me. the asshole said i was speeding when i passed him on brea cyn rd which is like 5-6 miles away from where he pulled me over. the first thing he said to me was is it stock. i bet if we had public acsses to the tickets the chp writes i bet most if not all the cars they pull over between the 57 and the 605 are all modified

from what ive been hearing, exhaust are not fixable anymore. they automatically peg you $120 depending on the county. Atleast you lucked out and they didnt send you to the ref or your ass is grass...

Well, thought i would pop my zilvia cherry and make a post =-)...about time i suppose.
As you can see I live in Canada and I too have a 240 bacon beacon... the amount of tix i get between my bike and car astounds all my friends ;-) if i listed all my cop encounters it would fill a small library.

I am averaging about 1 tint ticket a year, which isn't bad... in canada you are allowed nothing on the front 3 windows, and i have 40% on the driver/passenger. In Canada you can ask to see the Justice of the Peace, in which case you sit in a long line and wait 2 hours to see the JP who usually cuts you a sweet deal by reducing the demerits and/or $$$.$$ If you want to plead not guilty you have to book a court date (usually 6 months down the road) more on that later...

as far as the tinting goes, i have mixed results with fighting the tickets, usually i just pay them, once i got it cut in half (i just asked nicely) and another time they asked if i had removed it (could have lied and probably got the ticket ripped up, but that's not my style). Bite the bullet on this one.

As for the muffler, i got one of these too, except mine was for a 'widened muffler' here is what i did to get the ticket ripped up...
I did some calculations that prooved that the area of one bigger muffler (4.5" Bee*R) was less than the 'equivalent area' of the stock muffler's twin tips - in essence making it a reduced muffler instead of a widened one. The cop and the judge bought it and instantly threw out the ticket haha... people have a fear of numbers! they looked at it if it was black magic.

Oh yeah, almost forgot.. you said 'loose your car' are you serious? what does it take to loose a car in the states? just curious. once i was going down a street racing my buddies 92 integra (which i whupped regularily) and going 190 (km/h) in a 70 zone with a cop following me for about a mile. once i turned off to a side street he lit me up and let me off with 50 over, i was convinced i was going to jail and he was to blow my car up where it laid...

no emissions/aftermarket part legalities up here... which is good cause my catless exhaust is 110 dBA hehe. just angry neighbours.

I said Take my car away" because I am guessing if they inspect the exhaust and see theres no cat...and then go up further see a down pipe and a turbo,... they might realize the engine is not an american legalized one..and then i might as well sell the car ...cuz i wont have the money to change the engine back or the will to.
...I have a tuner friend who had to get rid of his Silvia cuz the inspector realized it had a 6 cylinder( from a skyline R32) instead of the KA...lol

Well your not in cali. SR20 swaps are illegal anywhere in the states, you get popped with one, you might as well either pay the fines and get your car towed. Wanna know why they're asses in cali? Cuz fookers who street race and kills people in the process just to prove who got a bigger dick.
