View Full Version : Gauge Pod for the Dash

I've got myself a 180sx and the dash is a bit torn up right above the center vents. I'm still trying to find a replacement dash but no luck so I've been thinking about putting some kind cowled gauge pod there, like the ones that you see on a lot of subarus that hold 3 gauges.
Does anyone on here have such a pod or know where to find one that doesn't face the left hand side since my car is right hand drive?

Search around, there are plenty of them made in Japan. It's harder to find one for left hand drive then it is for RHD.

I found an awesome CF pod at up garage only to find out it was for RHD. Why can't they make one that doesn't angle. Just centered.

I've been searching google quite a bit and no luck. I found one on TakaKaira but it was 166USD without shipping. The second closest thing I've found was a universal one on ebay, but the dimensions weren't the greatest.
I have no experience with fibre glass =(

+1 for raretrick.com. I belive they have a 3 guage CF pod. Give them a call and see if they can source one for you. If not in CF, maybe fiberglass?
p.s. To avoid possible flames, I suggest you refer to your car as a 240sx/s13, not a 180sx. Unless it really is RHD w/ SR.

raretrick one looks like it sits on top the center a/c vents straight so it will work with lhd and rhd but http://www.takakaira.com/ might have a rhd one

Amazing what you can learn when you take the time to read. Next time, don't suggest something the original poster has already tried.

I'm currently waiting for a PM back from RnD and hopefully they're willing to ship to Canada and we can work a deal out :x: . If not I guess I will either find a 10 dollar ebay and make it fit or harass MrMephistopheles. Getting pretty desperate though :-/

I found a universal one on ebay for like 15 bucks shipped. It was a triple gauge pod with gauges mounted straight and I just angled the pod to face me.

I believe Luke (Blu808 on these boards) used a Subaru CF tripple guage pod in his S14. He mounted it on the actual dash and it looked very nice IMO, the 89-94 240SX dash is similar as far as mounting goes and shouldn't give you a hassle.
The only problem is it's priced fairly high from Subaru unless someone makes a knock off.
I'll see about harrassing Luke to get pictures.

just get the one from ebay. I got one and it sits on the dash just fine, you can angle it or keep it straight.

I know he sold his S14, awhile ago actually. I'm going to see about getting pictures of his interior since he has some on his harddrive. He's not picking up the phone though. haha.

Mad props for making a gauge pod for the LHD s13 but HOLY SHIT that one is pretty fugly. It's too friggin' big! If you could shrink it to make it hold 3 or 4 60mm gauges, it would be perfect. Just my $0.02.

My suggestion: I'd say room for 3-4 60mm guages and an Electronic display (i.e. SAFC II).

Second that just allow people to use 52mm gauges and maybe consider leaving the buyer an option to cut out the exact size he would like for any type of display he may have, profec b II, blitz, etc.. up to the size of an safc.

custom make one out of steel, just measure out the vent size, and trim a peice to fit, the screw it in, and then drill the holes for as many gauges as you need. remeber to block of the center vent though
