I got my SR redtop running good and I everytime I take her out for say, I dunno 20 minutes, I bring her back and when I pop the hood I hear a bubbling sound... Its near the heater hoses towards the firewall. I know the SR gets hot but damn, is it suppose to be THAT hot? The valve cover gets really hot aswell. Overheating? I have the KA radiator and do understand that I need the SR or a Koyo...just dont have the funds right now. You could also hear the radiator fluid bubbling from radiator hose, but its mostly from the heater hoses in the back. Is this typical? thanks

i think its bad/ loose heater hoses, did you replace them when you did the swap? not sure what you mean with the fluid bubbling in the raditor hosetry and tighten them if you can, you can run with the ka radiator fine, of course the engine is hot... but also check you timing if you think it is too much

did you bleed the system properly?

what the hell would timing have to do with this?

most likely air in your cooling system. just rebleed it.

most likely air in your cooling system. just rebleed it.

Either that or a blown HG and air is getting in the cooling system under boost.

are you sure it's not just your cooling system takin coolant from the coolant Reservoir...it kinda sounds like a bong...what's your water temp?..and is the coolant foamy?..if so...more than likely bad HG.

Coolant isnt foamy, I've opend the oil cap and checkd for white foam inside...nothing. No water temp gauge....sounds like a bong though...lol. I took out the coolant reservior and plugged the line to it.

Same thing was happening to my KA...it was a leaking head gasket which blew big time later. Some other clues to a leaking head gasket are:
1. You need to keep adding coolant every so often.
2. You sometimes see white puffy smoke in your exhaust during start up.

Well its cold right now, so I always see that. I never have to add coolant. Its wierd. I dont know what it could be. hoses are on correctly and tightened. Just sounds like its way to hot under there.

What....NO WATER TEMP!!!!...so you're not running a coolant overflow container?...put a damn overflow container....what happens when your engine coolant expands?...it doesn't have a place. to go...if your radiator cap is faulty...it wont release the pressure and you'll over pressurize your cooling system...bad...bad...bad especially your radiator has plastic endtanks...which i suspect it does...KA Stock radiator....also it places alot of stress on the core of the radiator...1st step...put an overflow tank...2nd...hook up a water temperature sensor!!!

haha, i suspected it was bad, but it was cracked and whatnot. I'll begin lookin for one ASAP.

Easy, a hose and a gatorade bottle. You cant much cheaper then that for an over flow tank.

lmao...true. But I dont want my engine bay to look like its sponsored by gatorade...haha, na, but I'll find something. What do you guys think of just reflushing the radiator system?

worth a shot...hit up rndfactory.com for another OEM coolant overflow...btw after you get the overflow canistor...replace the radiator cap as well...get a Z radiator cap (it has a higher pressure rating)...and as many SR's i see...i swear i hear that damn bong sound all the time...even my damn KA does that gay ass shit...sounds like a bunch of rastafarians are tokin up under my hood...especially when it's cold outside...goodluck to you

P.S. - Get some sort of way to monitor your engines coolant temperature!!! <----Very Vital...esp on an SR!

thanks man. I'll do all that...
