Yup, you don't have to be ghetto and if you've got a short shifter you Can't be ghetto

Underneeth the tranny near the back there is a drain plug. It should be about an inch across and gold in color. It will have a square in the middle where you put the wrench. I used my socket wrench w/out a socket cauz it fit perfectly but I think its 1/2 inch if you have to buy the tool.

Then right in the same place on the tranny (near the back) but up around toward the drivers side there is an identical bolt that is the fill plug.

To change the oil simply drain it like you would any other oil, put the drain plug back in, unscrew the fill plug, and then fill it up with ~2.5qt of your favorite oil

How you get it in is the only tricky part since a bottle of oil won't fit between the tranny and the floor of the car. I used a cheap ($10 to be exact) pump. Put one end in the bottle of oil and the other in the tranny and filled it up untill it started pouring out of the tranny...

Here's (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=9398) a link to my pump

Hey Chimp... Do you have to keep the car level? or can you just put the fronts on jackstands? Thanks

I backed my car up the driveway and put the front on stands to make it level...actually the front was a tad higher. I don't know how the inside of the tranny is shaped but I imagine they would have designed it so the drain plug would the the lowest point. So assumeing that is correct, you want it level. If the inside of the tranny is flat, it would probably help to have the front a little bit higher so more oil would run to the rear where the drain plug is.

well.. i got it done right before a huge thunderstorm rolled in so i had to wait before i could take it out and test it.
the shifting is a lot smoother now and there is no problem getting it into 2nd gear anymore...

oh and for the record... gear oil smells like ass

yes gear oil does smell like ass, last weekend i had to take out my tranny to put a new clutch fork in because mine was bent, and i forgot that when you pull the driveshaft out that tranny fluid comes out...so im pulling out the driveshaft, there goes all kinds of tranny fluid in my hair and all over my face... im not going to forget that little detail again, is there any kind of other transmission fluid you can use other than redline? i really dont feel like spending the 8 dollars a quart?

You can use mobile 1 synthetic gear oil. Or you can use something cheaper if you like...as long as its synthetic I think you'll be fine.
