You should tell her to look at the New Tiburon GT. Tibs are incredibly fun to drive and the Gt has the V6 and the auto version has the shiftronic shifter. Also, you can't beet the warranty.

Go to NissanDriven.com (http://www.nissandriven.com), it will let you customize one there, and will tell you exatly what options can be done together.  Looking at the web site, I believe that you can only get the five spokes on the seR spec V, which is only available with a six speed.  You could always just call a nissan dealership and see if they could swap the wheels out for you if you bought the car and see how much it would cost.  So basically I told you alot of nothing, but I hope that helps.

Protege's are too slow. &nbsp; The MP3 protege' that they built a couple years ago had a GREAT suspension, but was still slow as crap. &nbsp;an extra 40 hp and that car would've been a blast to drive.

I have to agree with you the new Tiburon is a nice car with a good price.

the hundai warrantie is just a market strategie... &nbsp; They dont have real data to back up their cars' reliability.. &nbsp; But tell you this much, their cars do come in last in crash tests against other cars, so I wouldn't trust on their reliability too much.. &nbsp;and the 10 yr warraty probably comes with 10 pages of small prints...

I would say a VW. I think they are great performance cars for people that want a quick car without having to modify it.
She could always get a focus &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':look:'>
Really with a price tag below 19k its hard to pic a brand new car that is nice... if she was stuck on that price an A4 would be nice.. or can we say WRX? hehehe..... I thought that the actuall lancer 7 that is coming is supposed to be priced below 20k?

Just a market strategy?!?!? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> If ofering the best warranty on the market is a market strategy then so be it.

Sorry but I used to own a 2000 Tiburon, (my X owns it now &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> &nbsp;) and it was a great car and never had any problems out of it. I also know tons of people that own Tibs and they too have not had any problems with them. I also don't know where you are getting your crash test info but Hyundai has a pretty good safety rating in everything that I have seen.

Well since you obviously have never read the warrany info on the car, I will just simply state that there is not a bunch of small print in their warranty.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 240sx but the Tib was a great car with great performance. Stock vs stock the Tib can keep up with my sohc 240sx but the Tib handled alot better. I will admit though that the 240sx has alot more pottential for tuning and that is the reason I decided to get a 240sx.

My mom actually just got a new car. &nbsp; She had been considering a BMW 5-series (we came into a little bit of money recently - don't ask) but because she's been driving a Ford Explorer for two year and a Jeep Cherokee for about 5 years before that, I knew the transition from AWD to RWD would be way too rough for her. &nbsp; The first day she fishtailed that Bimmer in the rain because she was used to her trucks, good lord would she have been pissed. &nbsp;Anyway, knowing she wanted something luxurious and fun, but still tame and safe, I suggested she at least take a Volvo S60 AWD Turbo for a test drive before jumping into a Bimmer.

She bought it the next day, and let me tell you, that's one really nice car. &nbsp;I'm still waiting for permission to borrow it, but with the whole not-living-there-anymore thing, I don't forsee that being soon. &nbsp;Anyway, it's absolutely gorgeous inside, and a real blast to drive. &nbsp; She loves it. &nbsp;Just thought I'd share.

I didn't mean to sound obnoxious mentioning a car over twice the alotted budget. &nbsp;Sorry about that. &nbsp;I just read "mom" and "new car" and that's what jumped into my head right away. &nbsp; As for a car in that price range, is a nice ride, but still somewhat mom-like in comfort and visual appeal (much unlike the Sentra's interior), how about a just-off-lease V6 Accord?
