so far this is the only DIY i've seen
http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB21&Number=249019&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
i've been debating either the S13 SR or S14 SR and am considering wiring headaches i'll potentially run into. wiring the S13 seems like it'd be a PIA and the S14 seems easier considering the engine should be in the S14 chassis to begin with. but what i don't understand, these companies are offering wiring serivce and are charging 50-80 more for wiring an S14 into an S14 than a hybrid setup S13 to S14. is the S14 really that much harder...it seems from the above link only the main harness needs to be modified.
maybe i'm just getting scared b/c i'll be doing it myself but the S14 sounds like a nicer motor and the 'possibility of an easier' electronic install sounds really good.
so is it true the S14 is easier to install in the Zenki rather than going the hybrid route of S13 into the Zenki???
thanks

I think they charge more cause there isn't THAT much information about the s14 out there.
Although, if you search, you will find all the information you need to do the s14sr into s14 swap.
If you have the info, both swaps are the same, wiring wise.
I'd go with s13 sr, and go FMIC.
Good luck!

i have never seen a late model s14 FSM... only for early model... Which is why i beleive he repined the harness, so the late model would match the early model... but there may be a fsm for a late mode somewehre on the internet.. if someone has it please send to me! just in case i get a late model s14 sr in the future
S14 ECU's control a lot of s14 accessories such as wiper motor, defrost, AC etc... im sure with some modification to lengthen harness wires u can retain all that stuff easy without bypassing relays and fuses (i have not done it yet though) which is what you would have to do (i believe) if u go with a s13 sr
as for paying 250+ for a harness job... definately not worth it... Im not sure for s14 motors (most likely similar to s13), but for S13 all they do to the SR engine harness is extend the maf and o2 sensor wires, and then cut off jdm plug where the harness ties into the body harness, and solder on the USDM plug in the correct way to get power, the rest is plug and play...
but if you want to pay 250 dollars for someone to extend wires, label each harness plug, shrink wrap everything, and "professionally" solder a plug... go ahead.
i would go s14 sr... VTC for added low end, t28, fast spool, and u can actually boost all the way to redline...
but i guess if your a HP freak and want to run a super big turbo, aggressive cams, an s13 sr would probably be better suited, cheaper for the motor, and easier to tune.

yea i don't think there's the kouki s14 FSM out.
Heavy Throttle says they have the wiring diagram, but won't give it to me haha
but it's not that different from early model s14, just a few wires. you can just test them to find out which is what.
I agree, if you plan on staying around 270whp, go with the s14sr. otherwise, i'd stick with the s13.
well, alot depends on how cheap you can get an s14 sr for. usually s13 is alot cheaper =)

thanks guys...
so basically all the wiring i need (if i get an S14 SR) to do is extending the harness to compensate for left hand drive and possibly the odb2 compliant stuff from the freshalloy link.
there should be a detailed DIY thread for wiring, but then again if there was... these places couldn't justify the 300 dollar price tag to do this stuff.

people believe you have to do some frankenstein shit to run a SR in their US 240's because shops ask you to ship both SR and KA harness. That is why people send in their harnesses to make it "professionally" modified. S13 SR into S13 is the most easiest harness modification, i laughed when i helped my friend do one in a swap yet places want 250-300 bucks for it. They ask you to send in your KA harness because they use the wires to extend the MAF and O2 plugs for LHD, and they need the F4 plug?????( I think thats what it is, really not sure) to modify where the SR engine harness plugs into the body harness.
i have no experiece with S14 SR's, my friend ran a S14 sr in his S13 so im counting on him to help me out with my future swap when i get one... He told me that its not that bad, he just has to compare FSM's, so that is probably your best bet if you want to DIY.

S14 SR is just as easy, in fact since there's no wiring to go under the hood it's less work overall. Shops like to charge because it's 'ghost' information but anyone with an FSM and a brain can put it all together in an hour. Problem is, 240SX owners don't commonly have brains.

s14 harness you dont have to cut or extend, ihave just got mines done,OHh sorry i lied only think you have to extend is the shiled wire for mas. anyways its really simple harness work. all of the power for the ecu lines up perfect, i feel nice, all you need to hook up is the ect #5, tach #7 fan high #8 vss#9 fan low#24 nutral position switch#25 and starter signal. Good luck

from my research and fsm's i've found:
S14 SR into an S14 (http://www.seanjlawrence.com/pb/wp_98d2280d/wp_98d2280d.html?0.8889697952266062)
I have yet to get my SR (should be a week or two) but once i get it i'll have to look into wiring ABS....
If i'm missing anything or need some stuff changed...can you guys get back to me
