View Full Version : Strut bar??????
Someone mentioned in an old post that they do make a rear STB that mount under the rear speaker panel for a 95 ' 240sx SE. If anyone could help me out please let me know. I remember that he said cusco, but if so which type (OS, AL, carbon, etc). Thanks

I wouldn't want to cut my rear speaker panel. I would just get the Nismo strut bar

the nismo rear strut bar is the one that needs to be mounted above the rear speaker panel which would need to be cut in order to fit...if u DON'T want to cut the rear speaker panel DON'T get nismo get somethin else

my supplier just faxed me the JDM instructions for the Cusco rear bar, and it LOOKS (Japanese giberish!) like it has a 2-pc bracket that bolts to the "gusset" i posted about a while back. first pc on top @ speaker panel, and second pc on trunk side of gusset, LOOKS like the bar DOES go thru the trunk! i'll post an absolute answer to this question when i get it (the fronts on backorder, so he's holding the rear). past post may be my mis-info!
I e-mailed louis at boostdynamics on the 18th asking about the cusco bar...no reply yet
E-mailed shawn at autoimaging friday night asking about the JIC bar and he e-mailed me back seemingly right away and said he wasn't sure but would let me know on monday. Although it looks like I'm gona be putting that ~$200 into new springs/shocks instead of a rear STB, it should still be usefull info.
K, heard back from louis a little while ago...just too lazy to find this post and post the info, but good news...
THE CUSCO REAR STB GOES UNDERNEATH and there is no cutting nessesary.
Should find out about that JIC tomorrow or the next day...

there has to be cutting! even if it doesent go above the deck, there are peices of metal bloching any chance of a bar - go look to see what im talking about fold trhe rear seat or get into your trunk and move the carpet
there are slots there where it would fit down below. Not the bar it self but the end part could fit. You sure your looking in the right place? Take off the rear deck peice and look at where then ends would mount, there's a hole next to it large enough to fit some sort of endpeice thing there.
Here's a snipit from the e-mail I got
"The Cusco bar mounts in the trunk under the rear deck and no cutting is needed to make it work"-louis of boostdynamics.com

i will look again myself but i thought it was pretty unaccessable - and dont forget you have to get the bolts off

The CUSCO bar goes beneath the deck. No cutting required... I've had my since '97...

No cutting: Means no cutting or drilling. As for speakers getting in the way, only if you attempt to put in 8" speakers.

deleted.....did you install the rear bar or did you buy the car with it already installed? cuz there are NO holes from under the speaker panel (the top of rear shock tower) into the trunk area where the bar would be, thus no way to mount it thru to the trunk without at least drilling holes for bracket hardware.....??
Could there be a difference between bmcs14's and mcs14's?

ok....my bad! Cusco OS rear bar DOES go thru the trunk!! there IS an odd shaped hole (under the speaker panel) on each side facing towards the back of the rear seat (forward). sorry i missed it b4! the end plate is shaped oddly to go thru the hole into the trunk area, prob gonna trim the carpet around it. this is how it looks: q______p , looking at it from the back seat. i'll take pics of install asap.

sweet! I was looking at it yesterday after I read this thread and i was thinkin it could be shaped like that, but it just didnt seem possible. But I guess it is. Now I know which one I am getting. btw, what does the Cusco rear one go for?
Not too much considering they are cusco http://www.boostdynamics.com/strutbars.html
