What seats have people here upgraded to? Im thinking of going with Corbeau or Konig but am wondering how these will hold up, ease of install, etc etc. I know Sparco and Recaro or good but a bit pricey for me to keep parked in the alley behind my apt.

One guy said the Tenzo-R seats held pretty well and they're quite comfortable. Just take a black Sharpie marker and color over the "Tenzo-R" logo or put a t-shirt over it.

I can't say anything about Konig (?) because I never knew they made seats, but from the few testimonials I've heard/read, Recaro, Sparco, and Corbeau seem to be the most trusted. I have not heard much about Cobra seats, but they sound.... err, well, judging by the name... -- okay, I've heard their proddy are alright but I personally would never buy a brand named "cobra".
Bride supposedly make some excellent seats.

I don't think theres any way around paying $500+ for a good seat

Primm Racing (https://secure31.softcomca.com/primmracing_com/catalog/) sells seats and other race stuff.
Here's some others...

Bride is by far the best, but Recaros are very nice too. Just save up the money, it will be worth it in the end.

After seeing those prices, a pair of Sparco Torino's doesn't seem to expensive at all

What kind do you plan on getting? Reclinable or bucket ones?

I sugguest recaros but, since you say its too pricey... Go with corbeau. I've heard theyre pretty good.

Hmm you can look on eBay for Bride seats. About 2 weeks ago I was thinking about going ahead and buying this black Bride seat that was reclinable it was only 225.00 or so but it had been used for 2 years so im sure it had some B.O or some nasty beer farts but I wouldnt care getting a almost 1 grand seat for 300 with shipping is a deal.

Oh yeah Im not too sure but Bride makes seats called Jamex(sp?) they are a tad bit cheaper but dont quote me on any of this so take it with a grain of salt.

But there is some info for ya

momo makes good seats as well.

having dealt with seats before, i can tell you this. do not buy a seat before you sit in it different seats are made for people with different builds, corbeau even makes a "fat man seat." the seats my friend has don't fit me cause i'm too damn big in the shoulders. other seats my friend tried were way too big and he slid around in them. so unless you've sat in them before, do not buy them.

I would not recommend Corbeau, I have a friend who had them and one broke, so he ordered another one and that broke too! He wasn't hard on the seats, and both were installed correctly. Seats shouldn't break, talk about a hazard!

Momo makes some cool seats
You can see them at www.optauto.com

Its not that Recaros are too expensive, I sat in the Recaro Trial and fell in love, but they are too expensive I feel for my car that has no garage in Chicago. Everyone that walks by will see the big Recaro on it and I dont feel like having my car jacked just for the seats. Still no gaurentee that it wont happen but if I could get a slightly less expensive seat for now and get my Recaros later when I get secured parking Im gonna do that. My stock seats are totally shot. $500-600 is definitely affordable for a good seat that I can remove later and put in my rally car Im building. I think you should definitely try seats out b4 you buy them. Im just looking for experience people have had with brackets, fitment, quality etc. I mean Im 6'2 and I cant have a bracket add another 2" or so over stock height.

Where can you test out seats?? I know theres no places in this town that even has ever had them in stock. And I don't know anyone that has any. I would really like to have some of the Torino's...they look nice, but I dunno if I'd like it.

Only not.

From everything ive heard, Momo can't make anything but shift knobs and steering wheels, and even those are iffy (as in, making them all universal with those bullshit screw-clamp things and rubber adapters as opposed to making them to OEM specification, with threads).

From what i hear (from shop guys) both their seats and floor mats are crap, and get worn out within months of buying them.

man, if all u want to spend is 600
you can buy 2 sparco sprints with universal sliders and mounting brackets for that price.
Basically the full package for a hell of a price, just go to the sparco website and find an authorized dealer near you and you'll get the seats at the price stated on the website.
Make sure you mention that you saw the price on the net cause they WILL try to overcharge you just like every damn performance shop around the world!!!!

Whoaaa slow down there Dj!

MOMO make some of the higest quality equipment around. MOMO wheels are the best!

they make different hubs for differnt cars, the wheels are all the same! this makes sense! are you going to build a different wheel in every style, color and size for every car that is available?
Of course theye are going use adapter hubs, just like everyone else.

MOMO seats are of equal quality, I have an Acropolis is that has been raced in for several years and is still very comfortable. (check avatar)
They make great suits too!

On a side note, why change the seats if you think they'll get ripped off? Don't buy shitty seats, you already have those! Make some other sleeper mods, things thugs don't notice like suspension or engine mods?

As far as the seat goes... you get what you pay for.

OBX for $700?? that's just plain absurd. i can get Corbeau Forza's for $450, which is a 5pt ready seat and weighs 22lbs. i wouldn't buy anything (cept maybe a stb) from OBX, much less a severly overpriced seat.

Momo makes good stuff, but very little for the bigger guys. I have sat in there extra large seats and they still won't fit. I am 6 foot 220, and they aren't even close, I had to wedge my ass in and then had to deal with the fact my shoulders wouldn't slide all the way back.

My skinny friend has a momo and loves it though, and it is going strong after 3 years of abuse too.

like i said before......5pt ready seats that weigh 22lbs can be had from corbeau for $450 a pair.

if you want, buy OBX, it doesn't bother me. actually, please do buy them, i don't like it when everybody else has the same stuff as me.

Tnord - I have heard that Corbeau seats are not worth it cause the materail is really cheap. Like they rip and wear out quick.
Bride seats are the shit from what I have hear but only for people that are like 5'10 160 pounds and smaller.
Again this is all word of mouth so take it with a grain of salt.. hear sparco is good but expensive...

if you dont plan on spending much on some good seats (sparco torinos, my fav) then damnit jus get some leather and wrap your current seats in them and call it a day...
that looks cool....

if you reall jus want the feel and comfort of some aftermarket seats then... i think all the options been dished out already...
you mentioned Konig, so heres some personal info
The V-racing series is what ya talk about.... The best i think are the Charges, they are reclinable and run about $378 a seat i think... the cheapest are the Buzz, they are like $270 a seat and they dont look as cool in my opinion....

But ok, heres a quick list for ya...so far, Bride, Momo, Konig Vracing, OBX, Tenzo R, Sparco(sprints are the cheaper ones so look at those)

And honestly there are alot of others i jus am not thinking of, look around, you can get really good racing seats, ok ones, or crappy ones...Some from big name brands, or some from some company you never heard of before its up to you...

If are jus getting them to get them, and are gonna get crap... i say fuck it, and jus get leather seats... but if you really jus want racing seats cuz you drag/autoX or whateva, look around you can find a deal...

Rember you are buying seats. Not only do you put your ass in them they are going to be part of what saves your life if you crash.

You pay for what you get and is it worh buying cheap Tenzo R or Konig?

Depending how big you are Recaro are ususally bigger, then come Sparco and finally BRIDE.

I highly reccomend BRIDE. They are great seats but they will cost you a pretty penny.

Sparco are the cheaper out of the 3.

agreed..

like most things with the car.. its probably better to do it right...These seats for the most part are mods you wont have to replace and will have for as long as you have your car... so get some good ones, or keep your current ones

I can tell from your first post your concerned with security and people seeing your pretty seats and trying to jack them... it sucks but thats gonna be a risk you take with every major mod you make (especially if you park your car in a dark alley)... get a alarm and a guard dog and hope for the best.... whateva you choose man, i hope they work out... Good luck...

Oh and man cheap ebay or for some groupbuys, that was you might be able to find some quality seats for cheaper prices
