So I am in dyer need of help with my smog situation. I live in southern california and got pulled over. The asshole cop gave me a carb ticket among other things. I went to court talked to the judge, told him im selling my car and wanted to pay the fine to get it off. The next day i get pulled over again and tell the cop my story.. he baiclly reinstates the ticket that I just paid 400$ for. So my question is... If the car changes hands (i sell it) does the carb ticket stay on the vin? Basiclly no matter what ,do I have to take it to the Ref? I have an SR and want to avoid it by all means... I would have to put back my KA.
Any help will do.

California law requires you smog it before you sell it anyway. I remember a few months ago when a bunch of people were rushing to sell their sr powered cars because they got refereed like you, selling them for dirt cheap as track only cars.

if you have space/tools/time,
i'd say swap back in ka (cheap), make everything smog passable,
if you don't, well...
you can gamble and go to the ref, (i know of someone who did pass w/ sr - lucky bstard), but i'd say chances are slim
not sure what other way you can get away with it...
i think you can sell it out of state, but i'm pretty sure something will stay on the vin, so it can't go back to cali w/o being resmogged again...
keep us posted...

well I don't know where in OC your live or what your doing but it sounds like the cops know you and don't like you. Anyways , the Referee will just tell you to stick the KA in and come back. You could sell your car out of state to someone . Your still going to have to pay a fine again. Yet I have to ask what is going on that your getting pulled over so often? Is your exhaust loud? Are you racing around? Reason I ask is I know a lot of people that drive SR's are all over socal and as long as they mind their business they don't get pulled over. Let alone twice in a short amount of time.

Well i havent gotten pulled over in two years and with in a week i get pulled over twice. My car just stands out in a sea of SUV's and benzs. I have a question, if i take it to a illegal smog place with they just turn it away cuase it has a ref vin? Is there no way I can take it to a smog place?
