i had a similar problem and found out that my pushrod were jamed up, so it could be as simple as that. check for the simple things first like checking your brake fluid, or checking if you MC. good luck

Same thing solved MY problem after I had replaced the calipers...
... change all you fluid too, if you drive as far I did (about 8-9 miles) as I did after lockup.

Ok, its been about an hour or so minutes and now the brakes released...WTF? How is it that? Why would they lock up and all of a sudden just release? No, I didnt have my handbrake up up. hahah, wierd huh?

Ok...yesterday, I took the car for a spin and found out that my brakes where gone. Im thinking this might be because I drove for about 2 miles w/ the brakes applied. The thing is, when the car is off for about 45 mins. all the brake pressure is released. Then when its started up, the pressure rises and eventually locks up the car. If it were to be the BMC or the Booster going out, wouldn't I have no brakes rather than brake pressure? Im stumped.

Check your brake light switch, It may be scewed in a little too far and applying pressure to the brake pedal. I had the problem when I switched the switch out.

heat from the manifold/turbo affecting the m/c?

This just happened on a friends of mine STI. what happened was the brake fluid boiled and caused the MC valve to stay open which would make the brakes lock. he changed out the fluid to a better quality and no problems yet and he drives very spirited:) How old is your fluid? has it ever boiled over before? if it has the fluid is shot.

Im guessing the fluid is pretty old. The manifold is right near the MC so heat is an issue, but I only drove it around for 4 or so minutes. Some other guy was telling me that it has to be my Proportioning Valves??? wtf are those?

did you do anything with the brakes when fixing the engine? I'll talk to my shop teacher tomorrow and see what he says, and post later on.

yeah, Im saying the booster because I changed the fluid, bled the brakes, changed the MC and bled it, then bled the system again and still no luck. The only thing left is the booster. Any other suggestions?
