I got my sr this last summer its been nothing but problems ever since. The first time i fired up the car it sounded great but the water and oil lines leaked from the turbo. I got some braided lines made fired the car up it sounded like the timing chain was hitting(noise coming from the head) on something at idle and around 2k rpm, It also runs like crap at low rpms wont idle at the same rpm and misses at idle. I replaced the chain tensioner the noise is still there. repleced the chain still there. I drove the car because i had too a few times and the noise remained the same when the car warmed up, the motor ran smoothy under throttle though unlike idle under throttle the car ran fine but still made head noise. I put an oil pump on it from another sr i had and the noise remained the same(not sure if the oil pump was good cause it was used) I figure the noise would aleast vary some if that was the problem. I did a compression test the other day and got 120 115 113 120 keep in mind i have an aftermarket head gasket. I need to fix this asap ive been without a car now for six months. Im starting to thing building this car was a bad idea.

I took off my head today and all of the valves look fine and there is no markings on the pistons. The cylinder walls still look fine too stock hone is still visible. Im going to take the motor to the machine shop tomorrow I dont know what else to do. Since no one really seems to know my problem I will keep posting updates on what I find out so hopefully i can help someone save the trouble when they have this problem later.

I am pretty sure I figure out the problem It had an s13 bottom end and a s14 head:wackit: . The s13 sr20det does not an the oil squirter in the block that lines up with the s14 head chain tensioner oil feed. I got an s14 bottom end and I am putting the motor back together and back into the car tonight. This should fix it I will post later and let you guys know how this works out for those of you who are interested.
