I'm in the market for a new clutch, thus having to machine my flywheel. I read in searching for clutches that someone (can't remember who or what forum) took a stock Hardbody flywheel and had it machined down to 14lbs. and balanced it for $150. I was wondering if it would be possible to do that with the stock KA flywheel without ill side affects? This would be a cheaper alternative to the Fidanza I was going to get so if possible would it be worth the extra money? If not, then I'll shell out the extra bucks for the Fidanza.

Just get a Fidanza... you'll run into many problems...

when I grenaded my Altima's second tranny, I was going to get the flywheel resurfaced or even lightened. However, the machinest and my mechanic advised me not to do... My OEM flywheel lost its edge (still the steel plate) - had a pretty deep groove so even lighten it up was not an option. something around that line.
Now with the stock flywheel being lightened, will (and how will) it affect clutch engagement, I meant how pressure plate would grab the clutch disc, etc...?
