Ok this is just frustrating....I have a 93 240 w/an s14 sr and have been having prob w/it overheating. I took it to the shop and they checked it out and found out the waterpump was bad...fast foward a week and the new pump is in and is checked out(idled/reved for well over an hour) w/no prob w/over heating. Yesterday(night temp in high 60's) I drive the to my friends house (about 15 mi) and the car overheats...can some one help me trouble shoot what may be the prob...mods:blitz nur spec exhaust,no cat, supra tt fuel pump, koyo oem replacement radiator, radiator cooling plate(i know its for cooling) and hipro intercooler. engine is at stock boost.
could the big fmic be the prob..http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2127110289&idx=5

My suggestions...

Might have some air trapped in the cooling system, try bleeding it and topping off with with coolant+water (optional, add some water wetter).

Did you convert to e-fans? If so make sure they are functioning properly and spinning the right direction, and close as possible to the radiator.

Is your thermostat working properly? Drop it in a pot of water with a thermometer and heat that sucker up to make sure it opens at 150-180 degs. After you fish the thermostat out just put some macaroni in the water for special JDM mac and cheese... Okay jp but seriously GL with your cooling problems, we've all been there!

The fmic could very well be a problem, but that's what that koyo's for!

mello88 has some great suggestions. You should also note how you drove the car to your friends house too, constant high rpm operation could cause cavitation... That's what happend to me on my last car, took out all the water seals on my rx7

my car would do the same because of a shitty electrical connection on the relay for my e fans. they would turn on but if i hit a bump or reved it was like they would short out. finally figured that out after fluid came out my overflow and i left my car running and didnt hear my fans.(im a dumbass)

koyo oem replacement
the radiator is a stock replacement from ebay(wasn't worth it in my opinion) and i have 2 10" electric fans (universal)

Yup, try bleeding air out of the system. Start the car, turn your car heaters on full blast, pop the radiator cap and top it off. "massage" your upper radiator hose and keep your radiator topped off. Do this for a while till you feel your thermostat open.

Sounds like air in the system or a bad t-stat...HOPEFULLY you didn't warp your head from overheating it...a bad head gasket will make the point moot. Jack up the front end of your car (or do it on an incline) when you top off your radiator & let it run that way for around 20 minutes. That usually does the trick. Good luck!
