When I get in the car in the mornings and turn the heat on I smell gas.
I also have rough idling problems and when crusing trying to maintain speed the car bucks.

I have cleaned the MAF and checked the injectors. (unless one is stuck open)
I have not replaced the fuel filter but I dont think its a fuel delivery problem.

I have checked the TPS for dead spots and it has non but I am wondering if its off.

what else can I check/clean to get this fixed. I think this might be the cause if my horrid gas mileage.

BTW This is my first post so HI

i have the same problem too. inside my car i can smell a lot of carbon. Ive changed the o2,injectors, o rings and seals, plugs and wires and still no go. last thing to do on the list is timing.

i've got the same problem. i smell carbon monoxide but thats because i've got a leak where the turbo meets the manifold. studs snapped. also my mechanic told me, i need a new idle air control valve. so that could be it too the problem hard time starting in the mornings.

Carbon Monoxide is tasteless, colorless, and odorless so how the hell could you smell it. Are you a CO detecter? No.

check the coolant temp sensor...

if you're engine thinks its cold 24/7, it dumps extra fuel in to warm up the car, like a typical accelerated warm up system.

or so i've read.

Out of curiousity, you aren't running an SR20 with the stock FPR and an upgraded fuel pump, are you?

im in the same boat... bucks BAD while trying to maintain speed. on boost it runs beautifully, won't idle worth a shit.

Timing is spot on.
TPS adjusted to .5 closed, 3.8 at 9/10ths and that last 10th it drops to 2.6? its fine for now if i don't floor it.
NGK Iririums are gapped to .030, are black and sooty indicating very rich.
Havent bought a new O2 sensor yet.
Replaced coolant sensor (s13ka to s13sr, same plug). SR sensor came out bone dry, thinking air pocket there by the t-stat, but single wire gauge sender works fine??

The car is barely drivable.
still running on stock pump and ka filter... but i did replace the filter about 6000 miles ago.

What's the problem with using a walbro and the stock FPR?

Stock KA in this one. Saving for RB25 but thats in a year or so.

TPS checked ok. I am wondering if I have a thermostate installed. they guy I bougth the car from saied he put one in but I am un sure of that.

How much does a temp sensor usually run?

very common prob , if you changed to a cold air intake disconnect the maf and look at the connectors on both the wire and unit . this happens mostley when you put a intake on a car thats up there in miles check your fpr 2nd and then unplug 1 injector at a time and see if your car runs the same with one of them unhooked , you already went through this but i think double checking helps i used a stripped wire and wadded it up and stuck them in the maf plug to give it a good contact and it has fixed 3 or 4 of these ka idle air / fuel probs
