Hey, Everybody. I have a acquired a magazine called. Sport Compact Car, Issue Volume 17 NO. 12. (It's got a big cover shot of a Skyline's rear. And Says "THE BOSS".) Well in this mag, on page 34. It says something like the trany for SR20's are weak and will break. (Here is as Direct a quote as possible).

"How much power do you want? One hundred seventy horsepower at the wheels naturally aspirated with tons of torque? QR25 is your engine. You want a turbo and ton of power? Stick with the SR20. The only problem with the SR20, and it's a big one, is that the transmission is horribly weak. Make much more than 200 hp at the wheels and the transmission will break."

Now are they talking about the. S13,S14,S15-SR20's. Is this even a problem? Can the trany be strengthened? If so how? But above all, does anyone have anything to say about this?

(Sorry if this has been brought up and answered. I looked, but could not find anything.)

I dont really know what they are talking about either to be honest. I have had two friends with GTI-R Sentra's and neither one of them had ANY problems and both dyno'd in the 275whp range

Definitely FWD. I own one, I should know. If you search through sr20forum.com youll understand. The common cure for that is converting the newer hyraulic trannies from b15/p11 to cable, a few have survived more then 450whp. Anyway, its not a common problem for the rwd setups.

yea the S chassis driveline is legendarly overly built. 400+hp, just not the S15 6 speed. Basically they took the same 5 speed housing and cramed another gear into it. The result is narrower gears and an overall weaker tranny.

Is it tru that theres a difference between the S13 and S14 SR trannies? People speculate that S14s have thicker/stronger gears than S13s.

So if i do a auto to manual conversion (highly unlikely, but i'd like to know for reference), but keep my KA, i can use an SR20 manual transmission?

With them taking about the QR25(Sentra Engine) I would have to say this is FWD.

True, but its not a cheap alternative. Think about it, we drive sentras haha. They have some issues also, but I dont wanna go OT. I assume your friend is on sr20forum?

Yes he is (Rkawksi)....in fact I'm also personal friends with the owner of the forum (Matt)

I used to be avid on the forums, but it's blocked over here by the airforce net nanny (as are the countless alternative URL's for the forum :) )

sup cody! when you coming back to the States?!

for a FWD car making 350+, I'd think drivability is an issue...

Coming from an FWD car making 280ish, I can tell you drivability is already an issue.

most stock trannys are good tell around 400ish hp only sr20det tranny thats just junk is the s15 6 speed os giken sells the gears and shafts so youll have a almost bulletproof tranny
