First off, I got a redtop sr, with a front mount, hks ssq bov. Exhaust, intake. I've heard that you can tighten the spring, on the hks's, but what if I can't turn the screw anymore? As if, it's already tightened all the way? Because my car won't idle correctly, it will idle drop idle, almost die, catch itself, and repeat. What makes me ask the question about the bov is because, I noticed, that my bov doesn't sound crisp anymore. It's more like a whooshing sound, which is nothing like how a hks ssq, is supposed to sound like, so i'm thinking, that I could have a vacumn leak, and the cause is my bov. But would it cause, the idling problem? Also, noticed that my car seems to backfire more. This all happened last week, after I did my tune-up. I already tried using a different maf, but it seems, that the maf isn't the problem. Also, I can only boost to about 4k. After that, the car doesn't seem to pull, but I can hear the turbo spooling.

sounds like a boost leak, I had the same problem after messing with my intercooler pipes. car had no power even though the turbo was spooling. Ive wondered about tightning the hks bov tighter as well?

sounds like a leak to me as well. Double check all your piping connections, and vacuum lines.

Also, is your BOV recirculated? If not, that can also be a cause for your hunting idle.

You can tighten the spring by placing a few washers inside the BOV to create more spring force.

NemeGuero is wright!!
Wasn't going to touch this because it seemed like he isolated the problem already. Could have been fixed while waiting for replies...

I run an un-recirculated HKS ssqv on my redtop w/no problems except a lil gas smell @ idle.

Car idles perfect, maybe slightly rich, but no problems with rpm levels.

I would check for leaks in other places, vac lines etc.

yea I run a open ssqv also. All that sucks is that the car sometimes dies when it comes quickly down to idle. I usually just give it a little tap with my heal at stops and such. Not a big problem, and once I get my SAFC in it will be totally eliminated. Fuck recirculating.

just check if the bov is leaking. if u can press the pad inside with your thumb, its too weak. also, u can take it off to check if its the bov thats leaking. there could be other leaks
