Yeah so I had to smog my car today so I went to this place that did it last time. I didn't have an appointment so the lady said it would prolly be about an hour wait. I told her I'd be back in an hour. I started walking down the street, checking out the cars at the local Infiniti dealership, when I looked across the street and saw the SI. I figured what the hell I'll go look at it. The salesman comes out and I give him the full lip service, and we go for a ride. I was flogging the hell out of the car, and I could hear the salesmand gritting his teeth. It handles pretty well and and the fit and finish is better than I expected, but $19,000 is alot for that car. The engine is very rev happy and the clutch, well the clutch feel kinda sucked. The shifter, what an amazing peice of engineering. When your driving downt he road, you don't notice that it is on the dash, but it felt great in my hand. It is way better than I thought it would be, but flame all you want, out of the big 3 japanese car manufacturers, I still think honda makes the best shifters. I like the feel of the shifter in my old school teg better than the one in the 240, and this was way better. Don't worry, I'd rather have a turbo 240sx any day of the week, but that car has its strong points, sucks that it got the base RSX motor instead of the type-s motor, but its still a civic. Well I'm still getting an S13 this month, and the turbo will be in soon after, then its honda hunting season.

The new Si's aren't that bad. Only thing I have against them is the front...head lamps are wayyyy to big and it just sorta looks like a gas saver from the front (hmm?) Although I really did like the interior styling and feel.

They are absolutely hideous.

I think they are pretty ugly, i prefer the old SIs. i would rather the the Type-R RSX (is that only coming to jap, or us too) and what about the NSX-R (w/ the cf hood)

pshh, nothing to brag about. I've driven those to the ground and I'm not impressed. And they look like mini odyssey's, the old four door ones. but everyone else that drove them say they're great. right now we have 4 in stock, 2 blacks, 1 white, and 1 yellow. We've had the yellow for DAYS, maybe 2 months, it seems no one wants it.

Believe it or not there is no such thing, it is still called Integra in Japan. Just a little useless fact.

also the new NSX Type R has way more carbon fiber pieces than just the hood...mirrors, wing, etc.

The new Civic Si is a great of machinery but the fact that looks like a mix of a "slammed" down mini Odysey and Focus makes that new Civic sucks pretty well even for Honda guys !

A Spec-V is a better choice!

Subies have pretty much taken over... for now.

you guess seent he Civic type R right so you know the SI has the potential to look good....
i wouldn't get it though, i dont like hatchbacks like that

Oh and yea Ace is right man, the WRX gives me nightmares, so as far as stock all around good compact import cars, they kinda got it locked up

but yea, dont hate, i'm sure the SI can smoke a few cars we all know (cough cough)

Have you driven both cars, or are you just making a general statement? I haven't driven the sentra, but I sat in one at an auto show, and I felt the shifter of the spec-v was waay slopier. plus the sentra isn't that great looking either. If I was gonna buy a new car and only had about 18k to spend, I would try the SVT focus. Yes the new SI looks like a mini minivan, but it drove great.

i kinda like the way the si looks...and then i kinda dont either. i dont like how narrow the wheels are looks like they came off an insight. they call the rsx the integra in japan and yes there is going to be an rsx type R coming next year or something. 220hp. the reason they didnt put the big rsx engine in the si is because theres going to be a civic sir coming over and its gonna have the 200hp type s motor. they still debating about the civic though because its gonna be about as fast as teh type r but much cheaper. we'll see what happens

WRX is the new sub compact import car to get . screw the Honda's you don't buy a car just for its gear shift and linkage

you do have to understand, you can customize the shift feel on the old school teg and the new SI, 'cause it's FWD, there's a bunch of pullies you can work w/ for the shifter. but the thing is, the 240's shifting right ontop of the tranny, so maybe that's y it feels a lil... uncomfortable?

I don't like the way the SI looks at all. I've really started to dislike Honda more and more lately (used to be my favorite...well until I started getting in to Nissans).

I like the look of the Spec-V but it's not all that great to drive. After driving my 240 for a year, I test drove the Spec-V and hated the FWD feel (ick). The sentra didn't feel all that fast IMO either.

I've driven the Si as well, and I liked the shifter feel a lot. It was really conducive to keeping your hands on the steering wheel. Very comfotable positioning. as for power, it was boring. period. It revved out, but you got nothing back for all your revving. The Type-S engine is SOOO much better. you acctually still get that nice pull at 6000 rpm all the way to redline. The si felt slow, and annoying, the RSXS actually gives you something for revving it out. That is a fun car to drive. I still like the torque of the 240. She's my love. I just wish I could get real power out of her at 7k rpm. Shifting at 6k is kinda disappointing sometimes. But then I'll just get her sideways makeing a left hand turn, and start to smile again.

I like the new Si. I liked the old hatch Si and I like the new one. I think it stayed truer to the roots than the EK cars ever did. I like the idea that the motor has a bit more tq. I like the fact that the shifter is the best placed and has the best feel of any FWD car I've heard of. I don't like the price, the lack of revs, or the new struts.

As for the SER, I know a few people who run ITS B13's. I'll take their word (and Car and Driver's) in giving the Spec-V a thumbs down. The gearbox from hell, ugly tq steer, and a bad weight problem are not things I want in a car. The boring styling I could do w/o too. And no - 15.6 isn't fast. No, 15.0 isn't fast. 0-60 in the 7's is not a turn on. And the way that I read the reviews (both C&D and GrassRoots Motorsports), the SER was beat out by a couple/few others in its class.

Of course, if I were in that market, I think a Mini S would be my choice. (and hey, doesn't a WRX cost about $5000+ more than a Civic?)

The mini S is a very cool little car.. there is a guy behnd where I work that owns one, and it gets more stares than the local Z06..

I hear the basic SE-R can actually be faster in the 1/4 than the Spec-v with the same driver, b/c the spec-v has 17" wheels slowin it down, and an extra shift point before the 1/4 is over. besides it has those ugly ass lava seats.. puke. The SE-R could be a good base as a tunable car, if you were really gonna put some money in it.

what is all this talk about Civic type Rs?
unless you live in japan you aint seeing them
honda is bring the TypeRs to a close in the USA
in fact my beloved Accord Type R is seeing its last days

but yea Honda is ending the TypeRs i seriously doubt there gonna bring a Civic Type R here, they never have...jus Si's dogg.....

on a connecting note, even the Prelude is done, the Accord Coupe is gonna take its place as hondas cool coupe.....i think Hondas really trying to know its role, its not a Sports car division, thats what they got acura for

ok, i havent driven the new si but, i dont like the 5 door hatch type setup, i have to defend the spec-v because my brother bought one and it tears up my 95 240, the only thing i cant stand about the spec-v is the torque steer its hard to accelerate hard around a corner because it pulls you real tight then you try and loosen the steering and then you drift wide on the turn... but it is faster and the thing about the ugly lava seats we had ours reupholstered in black leather with ser stiched in the seats.. i could get some pics if anyone wants to see it.. i think it looks pretty smooth for a 4 door
