ok guys, im trying to figure out if i have to problems or one. After a burnout one night, my clutch pedal felt softer, i didnt burn the clutch up or anything and it didnt smell. i have an ACT street/strip kit in and it has never given me any problems. about a month after that my clutch started slippin but only when it was cold. about a month after that my clutch starts slippin really bad, but i dont smell anything when it slips, no burning clutch smell. damper box is already removed and slave and master look good, bled and bled and that didnt help. Is the disc the only thing left? or pressure plate? some say to check my master and slave, but what does the hydraulic side of it have to do with the clutch slipping? only had the clutch for about 8 months and 10000 miles, car puts out 237 wheel torque.

the hydraulic side controls how much the clutch moves in an out.. well the TOB. Make sure the slave is releasing all the way with the car in the air. also check and see if you have adequate fork movement.

yeah fork is moving a good 3/4 of an inch to 1 inch and the slave is releasing, think i just need a new clutch kit

Your clutch shouldn't be going bad that quickly, unless you really beat the hell out of it. It sounds to me that your clutch master and/or slave cylinder are going bad. I had that happen to me after I upgraded to an OS Giken triple plate, they just wouldn't hold the increased load from the heavier pressure plates. They DO wear out...

i will give that a look when i pull it apart this weekend. I just bought an ACT 6 puck kit (didnt want to get it apart and not have the parts i needed to fix it) so hopefully it will solve my problem. thanks for the input

I knowit has some miles on it and it most likely won't be but could the disc be glazed?

Way to be a jerk to a stranger online...The reason I said this was mine seemed to release just fine, but clutch modulation was inconsistant, meaning that it wanted to sometimes grab as soon as I started to lift the pedal (while driving) and sometimes it would not start to grab until the pedal was almost fully released. It worked fine when we looked at it on a lift. A stiffer pressure plate than OEM WILL eventually take it's toll on these components, and 10+ year old hydaulics that are used that much do wear out. Nothing wrong with my reading skills.

anything in particular i can do to test these components so i just dont guess, im 100% posivitve the slave is fine, no leaks and good movement. but what about the master, can i check that before i buy a new one? if that master was bad, does that mean there could be premature wear on my clutch since i have been driving around? there is no moisture or leaks from the master.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I'd use this one.

I am having problems with my brand new Gripforce F1 Stage 1 clutch. Some buddies of mine and I installed a brand new Fidanza aluminum flywheel along with the new clutch. I cleaned the flywheel with brake fluid, and before I put the tranny back on the instructions said to put grease on the spine of the tranny. I was really careful not to get any grease on the clutch or flywheel.
I bought a brand new master and slave cylinder, and bled the line correctly but the clutch still doesn't engadge all the way and it over revs.
We adjusted the clutch pedal as much as possible but that only helped a little. The instrustions say that I need to let the clutch brake in for 750 miles, so far it's only been about 140 miles, but I think it should engadge more then it is. The engine sounds great and better with the new flywheel, but the clutch is slipping worst with the new one then with the old oem one.
Please Help!!!

Nevermind guys my brand new POS clutch just went out, so now have to spend way way way more than I intened to and have someone put in a Centerforce clutch. So now that I have experienced both an expencive and inexpencive clutch, it's better to get the brand name clutch. Cuz overall it's gonna do better.
