I was wondering if you can install new (nismo) motor mounts with the engine still in the car? I image you would have to unbolt it from the chassis and lift it up enough to get them in there, but i didnt find anything with my searches.

thanks

Lower the crossmember. 5 minutes per side.

Where would you support the car once you jack it up so high? On the sides? I ask this because most of the time I use the crossmember.

Or you could just use JACKSTANDS.

True, but they still would only be used to support the bellhousing.

shoot, remove 4 engine mount bolts, jack the car up put on jack stands, jack between engine and tranny high enough you can remove the engine mounts, put new engine mounts and bolt to engine, lower car and have a friend help you, guide mounts to frame then bolt up.

You can do this in less than half a hour.

P.S. If you want to move the engine super high, you have to unbolt the tranny mounts. Thats optional.

Remember that if you're using them on the KA the left is right and right is left. It's really easy to do. I had a harder time putting in the steering rack bushing on the drivers side.

Transmission mount is literally a 2 minute job. Support tail end, drop the mount, replace.

If you go to the group buy section, one of them is urethane KA/SR mounts with nismo tranny mounts, and one guy gives a good how to on putting them in, just by jacking up the engine, loosening the bolts, then jacking up one side at a time. I guess I could copy/paste the stuff if you still cant find it

ooh ... the biggest issue you could have to breaking to bolts on the underside of the motor mounts loose.

mind were rusted to all hell. i used a bolt out, a torch and a ton of pb blaster. some people have to cut them off.

Box end wrench, doubled ended with a another one, and a series of anger usually get them loose. Sockets seem to slip off due to the angle that's required.

I used a socket and a breaker bar with a big ass pipe. It took forever.

See this is why we keep mr 6 foot long pipe around. Anyone can lean on that and get close to anything off with no worries.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

The nut on the underside of the driver's side motor mount on a customer's car laughed at our impact gun treatment.

We ended up putting a turbo socket on it, and hit it with an impact. 5 minutes later, the nut ended up being completely round.

We had to cut it out.

Generally an impact wont have enough power/leverage to undo some of the harder screws/nuts. Good information for the 2 month revivial though!

Have you guys ever snapped the head off the stud with all that torque? I've done that a few times.
I was real affraid of that happening when I was doing my Z brake swap.
