He means the ROKR.
The RAZR v3 is being replaced with the v3i, which will have a smaller drive than the ROKR, but will be thin like the current RAZR (my current phone), as well as a 1.3mp camera.

Before switching one carrier for another, double check what phones are comming out for Verizon, and what other phones are only a month or so out (so you don't drop $150 on the ROKR and realize the $299 RAZR v3i was the phone for you the next week).

There are a couple of Nokia phones on the horizon that will play MP3s as well, and none appear, from what I have been shown, to be gayed up like their last attempt at an MP3 phone.

... but as an employee of Cingular, I ask you, what exactly is it that you WANT in an MP3 phone? You can get a better phone for the sake of having a good phone and a better MP3 player for the sake of having an MP3 player, and in such come off looking like less of a cheeky trend-follower.

I wouldn't advise changing phone carriers just for a mp3 capable phone. Check out the plans and look into customer service in your area. I have cingular and love it. But knows if something goes wrong when you switch over to cingular. So it might've just been cheaper to purchace a ipod or something.
Phones are for talking, nothing else imo. And in that note. The sony ericsson s710a is one sexy phone.

My gf has the new LGVX9800. IT has a QWERTY keyboard, internet, wi-fi, MP3, etc. She only got it for $200 since she works for Verizon.

I think I play with it more than she does, haha.

If you can manage to unlock or purchace an unlocked phone off of ebay or something they it will work with any carrier as long as you have a sim card. Unlocked phone = any provider.

I have the Audiovox SMT5600 smartphone (Windows Mobile) through cingular and I love it. Comes with a usb cable and everything.. Also it has an expansion slot under the battery for a Mini SD card. They get as big as 1gig. Uses Windows Media Player.
Get a couple of Mini SD cards like me and just toss em in your wallet. I have every episode of Family Guy and I'm slowly converting them over cuz I can play em on the phone, it's frickin' sweet.
Not a flip phone though..

haha sorry to say,... the Razr really isnt that special.. Ive got friends that have it and they wish they had got mine.. Only reason Razr sucks is its limited to its software.. I can change layouts, install plug ins, read .txt documents, view jpgs, speaker phone, watch porn, etc... mine has no camara tho but i think some other smartphones do.

Hehe, recently I had to make a driving trip, and my printer wasnt printing for some reason, so I copy and pasted mapquest directions into a text document and uploaded it to my phone and used that. hehe

check out http://www.modaco.com/ for an idea of what stuff is out for these phones.

*clears throat*
GSM networks, operating on the 850 (NA ONLY) and 1900 MHz frequencies will be usable with all GSM carriers in the US, 900 and 1800 are frequencies that will be generally available intenationally, except for in North Korea and Japan, which both operate on a GSM 2100 frequency. Unlocking a phone for use in the US will generally make it useable from one GSM carrier to the next (Cingular/former AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile and a bunch of regional carriers my job doesn't pay me to know shit about), provided that one has disabled the lock that the manufacturer of the phone sent it to the original service provider with for use with their SIM card.

I got a nextel phone and kinda messed up buying a i860 for $250 which sucks ass but the only good thing about it is that i get free internet and chirpping. After reading this thread i want to get the MPX200 so i can hook my SIM card up and have a mp3 player because my f'ing mini ipods battery had to crap out. Anyone know anything about nextel phones and using unlocked phones i still want a walkie talkie?

Thanks.

check it out! great phone for not too much $$$ and its a smart phone, so it's almost like a PDA/TREO type phone.

MPX200's are POS phones. I had two and both of them didn't last me for even 3 months. constant freezing is the most annoying problem.

Was that the MPX200 or the 220? I know there were MANY issues with the 220, to the point where Motorola recalled and pulled them from the market for some months, but I was not aware that there was an issue with the MPX200.
