I was just wondering what tools people use to make belt changes as painless as possible.
That alternator belt is so freakin annoying... only about a thumbnail in length left to fit ontop the alternator pully.. I used a "ghetto" prybar.. and still can't get it on there without poppin a blood vessel in my head..
I seen a "Belt Fitting Tool" forsale..

but I was just wondering what other people use..
And ya.. i tried loosening the alternator tensionier..(sp) and the other pulley's tensionier as well... Alternator is pushed to the block as close as possible.
Something so simple can kick my ass to mars and back.. :bash:

i just loosened up the alt>block bracket bolt and the tensioner and there was more than enough room to throw the belt on.
btw....i hate the tensioners on these cars.

I had plenty of room with the stock belt and alternator... After I installed my udp and 110a alternator and shorter belt it was much more difficult because the alternator hits the intake manifold and can only swing about 1"....
Are you sure you have the right belt? Maybe someone before you bought one that's a little shorter than stock?

Some times I use a big flat head screwdriver as a shoehorn to get the belts on thier pullys also I use a fine tooth (2 degree) or no tooth (0 degree) ratchets to get them as tight as possible then I go to a standard ratchet that can handle extra torque to provide the last bit of tension.

if you cant stretch the belt on the pulley, wrap it on alt pulley then when you get to the crank pulley just "start" the belt at the top and then turn the crank clockwise...as you turn belt will kinda like screw on teh pulley as if it has threads on it. hope you know what i mean i suck at explaining stuff like this.

There's over two inches of adjustment in the alternator, you're doing something wrong.

No, a serpentine belt is a single, multi-ribbed belt that runs everything.
I can't verify the pics since they're really bad, but it looks more like the belt is just too short since it appears to be at it's maximum adjustment.
But I could also be looking at pictures of a UFO.

you got the wrong belt, take it back and get one a little bit bigger.

LOL.. ya.. damn zilvia wont let me upload bigger pics =(
I gotta find another place to upload my pics..
All in all.. i fixed the belt issue.. But back to my main problem!
(starts ignition. *one click* and one click only. Full power throughout car. Car wont start.)
Im thinking my starter or something in the starter wont kick the car on.. Push starts ALWAYS work tho.. Even tho i got my damn starter bench tested at Kragen.. who knows.. might be still faulty.
How come does Hitachi starters so damn expensive? And my SR starter is different from the one they showed me at the parts store.. the one they showed me looked really similar to the 300zx starter.. (I told them the chasis.. and thats what starter they pulled up)
My question is.. does the Sentra Sr20de's have the same hitachi starters as the det's ??
At courtseyparts.com the damn "s13-s14" starters run for 600 bucks!

if the starter tested OK I lean towards bad starter wiring check continuity on your wires and check your grounds
AFAIK the fwd sr starter does not cross.

im positive the wiring is correct... on the solnoid, there are two wires, one coming from the battery, and 1 is the ground.. correct me if im mistaken.. But when i start the car, the "one click" comes from that blue thing right next to the battery. (stater relay?) So im more leaning towards the relay than the starter itself. I got the starter bench tested at kragen, so i have a good feeling it is still okay. Im not religious on those readings tho, the starter could still be bad even tho the "actual" tested average. But hmm... clicking from that blue thingy... next to the battery? might look into that before i dish out $618 at courtseyparts.com for a fucken s13/s14 starter/

Bypass the relay, you should have already done that. Search, I know I've typed up the procedure at least a dozen times.

belts are easy to put on (but confusing if you haven't done it much before).
Both alternator and PS pump pullies give ALOT of breathing room.
On alternator, remember to loosen (not remove) lower alt. bolt so the damn thing can actually pivot once the tensioner is loose.
