Okay so the previous owner removed the id. sticker on the driver side door jam. I don't know why but i want to know if my car is an obd1 or obd2 95 zenki.

Someone suggested looking for the second sensor after the cat... how far do i look after the cat? the previous owner also replaced the exhaust piping so i'm not really sure what to look for. For all i know i could be looking for a non-existent 2nd sensor.

So my question is, on obd2's where is the second sensor? On or near the cat? Pointing up, left, right where? Thanks for your patience.. i guess i'm a noob at this.

p.s Please tell me if there is a simpler way. Thanks again.

If its a 95 it obd1..They had a second o2 sensor as well. The sticker was probably removed due to an accident/repaint.

All 95 are OBD-I, and all S14s have the second oxygen sensor, used solely for diagnostics.
It's mounted in the downpipe, just in front of the first resonator, about where your knees would be above the floorboard. Zenki models use a 3wire, Koukis use a 4wire.

Zenki models use a 3wire, Koukis use a 4wire.

And to add more to that...

The '95-96 sensor is smaller, uses a 12X1.25 bung...

'97-98 cars use the larger sensor, with a 18X1.5 bung.

That's the difference in headers for '95-96 versus '97-98...the 2nd O2 sensor bung.

FYI...

As of this writing, I'm about ~2100 posts behind you, Russ...I need to catch up!

BTW, happy Thanksgiving! I'll take a shot of Wild Turkey in your honor...hehe.

actually to answer my own post... The production dates for the zenki were april94-july95=obd1 ... and aug 95-july 96=obd2

so not all 95's were strictly obd1 or obd2. If you were to get an oxygen sensor for a 95, they ask you whether your car was made before or after august of 95. That's where the confusion, for me at least, lies.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess i'll just buy a obd1 sensor and see if its the same size.

Actually, the only changeover for the sensor is for the front unit in 1995 and it's between auto and manual. Auto cars used a 3wire, manuals used a 1wire. The rear sensor carries the same part number for all models 95-96.
