My readings were 1.04 for HC and 9.2 for CO

The legal limit for HC is 0.80 and 15.0.

I passed the CO limit by a decent margin but I'm obviously not burning enough fuel.

I ran the test on mid-grade so 93 V-power alone probably won't get me down the extra 0.24 points.

I've been reading that running injector cleaner helps a lot. Does it matter if I pour it in before I tank up or not? I think not as it would all mix together anyway.

I think its also important to not that over the last 2 weeks or so my idle has been getting rougher.

I was standing in line with my car on and not only would the idle flucuate from 500-750 rpm but the car would shake a little? Could it be knocking?

Thanks in advanced :rawk:

You can do it with
Seafoam!

get some throttle body cleaner and run it through the engine.

or seafoam, same difference.

warm up the car with a good long drive before you go and try again.

edit: it's not knocking, it's probably your IACV. it, along with your entire intake tract, is gunked up with 10+ years worth of dust from the air. clean your filter too if you haven't.

hahaha

out of curiosity i went and got my car tested. I recently got a new exhaust and cat so I thought i'd give it a shot.

Legal limit CO is 1.2 and i got a 8.50 :loco:

Change

oil
02 sensor
spark plugs

advance timing

if that doesn't work change your cat.

Run your car hard before the test..that helps warm up the cat..and dont turn it off. Dont let the technician turn it off either.

if your emissions are way off, its most likely the o2 sensor :)

pretty much what 420 said lol
