i have one i bought from grant for $30. general concensus is that it's just a bar of metal, pretty tough to screw up. cusco/nismo bars might work a little bit better, but it's pretty tough to justify spending the extra cash for marginal performance improvements.

my friend has pilot STB's front and rear in his S13... I have a cusco bar in the front of my S14.... my lap times are like 5 seconds faster!!!!
opposite case though, DR's got a cusco bar and he's 10 seconds slower

IMO, it's more of peice of mind to get the "better" bar... the Pilot will do a noticeable job, which is very good for just a bar that connects your strut towers together.

so true. It is piece of mind. $30 bar did a good job, but the expensive nismo one did a better job, the nismo one was also made for the car car. (completely contoured for the engine). I wanted a JIC c/f strut bar for the looks, but the nismo ended up to be about the same price so i went with that...

so it all depends. whether you want the best, or you just want something that works.

I'd say it's more of whether or not that difference is something that matters to you. The way I see it, the Pilot STB works, but the Cusco bar is... well, it's a Cusco bar, and it works "better". When I look at the welded joints and threaded ends of the pilot bar, it just SCREAMS "I still flex" at me, and being someone that wants to eventually have a dedicated track setup (go to the track with 3/2.5 kg/mm springs for normal driving, then swap to 12/10 kg/mm springs just for the races....) I want something that screams "I'm stiffer than any of you watching REALLY REALLY GOOD PORN".

So uhh.... yeah. I went with Cusco and I'm happy. My friend went with Pilot and he keeps looking at my Cusco, but says he's happy.

Yup It's just a bar but no matter how much you tell yourself later on you will want a Nismo, Cusco, HKS Kansai, JIC, Anniversary,Tomei, Mine's, M's, Impul, ATS, or any of the other Japan tuner's sturt bar.

The Pilot will work for now but you will never be 100% happy with it.

Also why does your Sig say JDM for life and you are considering a Pilot STB?
