Insipired by Mr.Meph's Tokyo car phootshoot, I figured I'd put one up showing the japanese cuties. So I live about 15 minutes away from where they filmed the Initial D movie, so I figure I'd share some of the pics from some of the infamous places highlighted in the anime/manga.
So first.. Haruna. (aka Mt. Akina in the comic/anime)
The real touge that's highlighted in the comic/anime has only a few sections of the road that are fun driveable, the rest of the road is riddled with speed traps (i.e. dips, changes in road condition, small speedbumps etc..) However the south side of the mountain has hardly any of these and is a blast to drive :)
Here's some pics (taken in late july):
So thouse dorky swam boats really DO exist!

Next... Mt. Akagi
Akagi is huuuuuge, there are lots of roads I haven't even explored yet up there. You can easily spend a lot of time time there on many different kinds of touge. The main touge featured in the comic is awsome! some parts/turns are pretty narrow and tight, but there are also a couple places you can really smash at, but overall I'd say it's a well rounded course :)
on to the pics (taken, just yesterday.. sorry winter is pretty much here, the changing of the leaves in Akagi were beautiful!!, sadly I didn't have my camera with me at the time :( So pretty much all the trees up there are dead now)
Trying to drive while taking pictures

Again, sorry, crappy time of year, its super dooper uber beautiful in any other season but winter :(

These are thouse damn dips I was talking about, go too fast and bam! goes your oil pan :(

Some side street on Akagi Mt., and yes.. this is a two way road ;)

Next... Myogi
I have to say, Myogi is awsome! The road up to main mountain is a great well rounded touge, the other really good road close by to Mt. Myogi is Usui which is also pretty rad too. I have to say, Myogi a lot car club meets I've seen on the weekend, a really popular road for car enthusiasts. Sadly, my friend drove up with me to Myogi so we were racing, and I didn't have any time to take pics. But.. we also climbed up the mountain, which was the scariest thing ever!!!111 so I have some pics of that :)
The pics (taken early August, sorry nothing auto-related this time)
Half-way up to the top, the jungles of Myogi

The top, SCARY AS FUCK!!

Come spring time, I'll take more touge pics
Next.. Nikko/Irohazaka
Getting to Nikko was more fun than the town itself IMO. Going through Gunma you pass through a mountain range to get there, which was great got to see some really nice changing of the leaves, and then at the top of the mountain it was like winter, then it goes back to normal fall weather, REALLY interesting , It felt like I was going through different seasons of the year. Anywho, the main touge of Nikko Irohazaka... The touge is pretty nice, beacause as you know there is no oncoming traffic on the way down, and none on the way up ethier. Two different roads, but they are both the same (if that makes any sense at all, lolz) Anywho, the best best best time to go is at night or on a weekday evening. I went there at the absolute WORST time, a weekend day durring the changing of the leaves season. It took me 5 minutes to go down the touge, and 2 FUCKING HOURS going up beacause of all the traffic due to the changing of the leaves. Anywho, its a great road if there's nobody on it, lots of sharp tight turns.
onto the pics.. (taken in october)
yeah, its just the end of october, OMG snow! (taken on the way to Nikko)
