so i'm driving in really bad traffic in a construction zone. There are hella bumps my car is going thru. I get out of the costruction area and try to turn left to get on the freeway.
all of a sudden my car does'nt accelerate past 3k rpm's. It feels like the clutch is burnt out. But it grabs just fine from a stop. I never had any problems with the clutch until i went thru the construction site.
Then i noticed i was throwing codes. So i checked 32, and 33. Which is egr and 02 sensor. Could i be experiencing a vacum leak? I mean can clutches just go out that quickly?
And if i flow the car quickly the rpm's shoot up really fast, but the car does'nt go anywhere. It's fine if you drive the car really slow and stay under 3000k rpm's.
Thanks.

U wouldnt happen to have a Cat on the car. If so it could be clogged. Or check you pipping on the intercooler or any connections that may hold pressure.

i have a cat on the car, it could be clogged. Because i was going thru dirt and gravel like crazy before this happened. But no intercooler since its just a ka with bolt on's.

it seems like neither of you know what you're talking about.
first of all, the cat has no openings, so theres no way dirt flying up from the ground to go into the cat.
i've never heard of a "clogged" cat, and I doubt it even exists, there maybe carbon buildup but nothing substantial.
as for the ecu, I'm throwing the 32 and 33 codes as well. there are numerous posts on how to correct these. be sure to download the free FSM. just search for it.
As for your clutch, the best way to know if its burnt... you can try a few things.
1. accelerate hard, if your rpms shoot up without you moving anywhere, your clutch is done
2. clutch kick, (do in a safe location) drive the car in 2nd gear near 4000rpm.... take a turn and push the clutch in and out really fast while giving the car more gas... if your car swings sideways (assumig you dont have open diff), your clutch should be fine.

most likely true, unless you had a big ass hole in your exhaust piping.

i've never experienced it but i've heard of it happening enough to assume its true.
Sometimes you can tell that a converter is clogged because you don't go any faster when you push the gas pedal. Also, there usually is a noticeable drop in gas mileage associated with a clogged catalytic converter. A partially clogged converter often acts like an engine governor, limiting the actual RPMs to a fast idle. A totally clogged converter causes the engine to quit after a few minutes because of all the increased exhaust back pressure.

I've had 2 bad cats at once when i had KA...basically, you feel a tremendous loss of power and cant rev past whatever RPM, just take out your cats and check em, or bang em around and see if it sounds like rocks are inside..

well i'm going to take out my cat today, and see what's up.
I've already ordered a clutch though. I should be replacing it on friday.

hmm, i'd clean the maf...just one of the first things you do when searching for these kind of problems
check timing, check all vacuum and boost lines, fuel lines...once i had a hole in the fuel line after the fuel filter...big loss of power and stuff..
