just replaced oil pump but i had noticed that the timing belt had done it before this as well. about 5mm of the edge of the belt rides off the front edge of both cam gears. only solution i can think of is removing lower cover and crank sprocket and moving the crank sprocket closer to the block. i just replaced the oil pump, crank sprocket and plate behind the sprocket, about how close should it be to the oil pump? anyone heard of something like this?

Only looks like 1-2mm to me.

Did you install a new backing plate when you put on a new crank sprocket?
