Hey guys, the other day I tried to put in my reciever but ran into a major problem.
First of all I didn't disconect the negative battery terminal so when i started hooking it up of course when of the wires touched. So I knew i had to replace the fuse. I got it all hooked up and replaced the radio fuse under the dash. but when i went to turn it on i still had no power. I pluged the old one back in and still the same thing.
I was looking at the fuses under the hood too and saw that there are two more radio fuses. I checked the one that I have and it was ok. But the seconed one isnt even there its like that whole section of fuses that is listed on the cover isnt even there. I'm wondering if these fuses could have been moved or something. Where are they at for you guys or if they just arent supposed to be there. Maybe theres something else that could be the problem.
If you guys could help me out i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Ps: I searched and found nothing.

Check ALL your fuses. Then get back to us.

No power to the deck? Or no power to the car?
Check the fuse on the back of the deck. Also, bust out a multimeter (or voltmeter) and test for 12v coming from the power wire against a good solid ground. (chassis works well)

if the HU is just not turning on (but you haven't tested for power in the harness:
if it is an s13 there is no ground in the factory harness, connect the reciever ground to the chassis (i put on a spade terminal and slipped it into a gap in the housing).
does the factory amp have a fuse in it? if you're still using the stock amp check that, maybe.

Thanks fellas. I'll check it out ASAP. But about the fuses under the hood... do you guys have those fuses or not still curious...?? Thanks

No Nissan radio has a ground in the harness, it grounds through the chassis. If all fuses are good, you've blown something else since there isn't a relay/module that controls the radio power.
And why in hell were you installing a radio and had bare wires? The harness offered to plug in to the car can be wired outside and is a direct connection. There should have been no need to cut anything and expose any wire to shorting out, and if you were janky enough to just cut the OE plugs you should have at least used enough common sense to isolate everything.

It could be your ground. Ground the deck out side of the harness, the bar that runs through your dash makes a good one.
If that dosn't work then check your fuses again one by one in the car. It sounds like what I did to my car the other day, and I blew two fuses but only replaced one. Then I found it the next day, and fixed it.

both times I've had to install stereos in my cars, there was no stock harness to plug into, so i had to wire all of them inside the car.

I just encountered the same problem. after cutting my bumper support my stereo system blew out. all fuses fine. but no power to the headunit. what is strange because the power is in the lines. all ground connections are fine because I made 3 possible points of contact just in case. even more strange is that the dome light fuse blew. I doubt if EMI is the cause.

If you have power from the 12V, and a good ground (NOT FROM THE HARNESS) your deck is messed up. How hard is it to figure it out? If you aren't getting 12V, source it from elsewhere. If you don't have a good ground, Run a new one. Its better to run a new ground anyway. There needent be any posts after this. This is the answer to all questions in the thread.
