gas? pull your spark plugs and shine a light into your cylinders to see if your engine is flooded.

Does it crank, but not start? Does it make any noises at all? Or do you turn the key and nothing happens?

this may sound kinda stupid... but are you sure the car has gas.....
i went a little too long on empty and my car would crank but it just wouldnt start because of lack of fuel.

Search my name, but on my 93 240 i had a problem of the car just not wanting to start sometimes in either hot or cold temp. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and have had no problems yet. (red or yellow, red connector going into it, right next to your throttle body). Good luck!

yeah one time, i pulled out the sparkplug and tried to look in the hole. I didnt have a flashlight on me so i used my lighter instead.
Needless to say, my eyebrow and eyelashes were all burnt on one side of my face.

I am having a similar situation, however it is definately not the battery.Ok.. I am going to give you guys some background on this motor... I had burnt a piston in the thing a while back.. and had rebuilt the motor... however when I got the motor running.. it was smoking something fierce.. so I took it back out and decided to do it again.... found out that my rings were to blame... and now the motor is rebuilt. At this point... I have the motor sitting at TDC... the keyways on the cams are set correctly (about 10 and 12 o'clock)... and there are the correct amount of links inbetween the two sprockets... so my cam timing is correct... With the car at TDC, I set the CAS's timing marks in line.. so it should be timed fairly close (at least good enough to get the motor started so I can get a timing gun on it to time it)...
I am getting spark on all plugs, and coil packs. However, my motor is flooding like a *****... I thought it could be timing at first.. because that is how the motor acts when you try to start it... like the timing is messed up... however like I said, I think it is fairly close. I have excellant compression... so compression+gas(since the dang thing floods I assume I am getting fuel)+ air + Spark = work right? So what can be happening here?

rebuilt motor
you installed the fuel injectors yourself?
you probably fucked up the o-rings on the injectors. im currently having this issue.
install all new seals, lube them up and then:
It's a very common problem to incorrectly install them. When installing the side feed injectors, you hand install them. Push and twist till it "snaps" into place. A lot of people use the screw caps to push em in, which is wrong.

its a possibility.. howerver I never pulled the injectors from the intake manifold... I just took it all off at once.
