well...here's a quote..."man who drive like hell, bound to get there"...hehe...sorry, just had too...ask you local body shop...they are going to give you the most reasonable answers...mostly because if you get a quote here...it doesn't mean that's what you local shop is going to give you....make a few calls and compare prices...

i would have to say about $2000 on the high side
you can find a good slavaged headlight for about $50-70
new corners $60
the new hood about $250
new grill $80??
paint $80
labor 13 hours about $800

Umm.. Mine kinda looks like that. Its funny, too. Kinda like out s14s were meant to crumple and cost a hell of a lot to fix.
Anyway... my bill is gonna be $3300. I bought a hood for 1/2 what they quoted, a fender for 1/2 the quote, and a headlight for 1/2 the quote. They quoted $500 for the bumper and black piece under it, and for $500 I can get a Bomex front.
Anyway.. If you don't mind driving around like I have been, go here for cheap OEM parts.
Wholesale car parts (http://www.carpartswholesale.com/cgi-bin/carpartswholesale/car-parts-detail.html?car=NISSAN&parts=240SX&wholesale=FRONT%20FENDER)
My hood and fender and shipping was $400 even. And 150 for shipping. Decent prices. And I lucked out with an Ebay auction for the light and cornermarker for $140 new, in the box from Nissan.
After my scavenging for good prices on NEW stuff, I will still pay $2700.

BACK THE REDBULL'S UP!!!!
It will not cost over $1000.
from the looks of it, fender seems to be bend uniformly outward, hardly noticeable tho.. The bumper, is it cracked? doesn't matter, just repaint it, maybe fill in the cracks if it has any. Is the hood even bend? If it is, all you need to replace is the hood and lights, the grill maybe???
Dont let shops do it if they wanna replace EVERYTHING. go to a smaller shop and they'll pull everything back by the frame. My fender was extruding a good 3 inches from a hit and it just went back from pulling, and some sanding and filling.
My whole bumper shifted right and in from a frontal swipe, and it was only 650.

im very surprised that you all payed like 3 grand for your cars to get fixed, hell i would have figured around 1,000 bucks including parts, painting and everything, but then again i dont live in a big town, and body shops proabbly dont charge as much, I just hit about the 3 grand mark on my car...http://www.geocities.com/ridebmx.geo/my240.jpg and the 3 grand is including the cost of the car, and a parts car, both 97's...the rear quarter on the driver side is also tweaked, but you can't see it from this picture...man i only wish my car was wrecked as bad as yours, id be praising the lord...haha

Good luck on finding a used headlamp.....when I had my car fixed they did a search through an LKQ (which is a used parts inventory of your local junkyards) and they found nothing. hell, I even went onto car-part.com and did a search there across the country and came up empty. You might get lucky though, bit if I were you, when getting the car fixed, I'd ask for all new OEM parts.
My local Nissan dealer only quoted $365 for a hood, $306 for a front bumper, $212 each for new headlamps, ect....not really all the expensive. I understand prices vary soooo.......either way you choose...good luck.

Yo BlackS14
this kinda ties into what we where talking about on Grants Pic thread but...
You say your headlights are new OEMs
but aren't those the same thing that all S14s come with , OEMs, why are yours clear and sweet like that, You didn't have to sand them or nothing, thats jus how new OEM lights come now... Cuz i thought OEM meant it was jus standard stuff, and dont all our cars have the standard stuff... why are your OEM lights clear... i dont get it?

OK. I didn't notice the fender until you brought it up. It's not that bad. Can be bent out. Figure an hour in labor for it though.
The hood is toast. There are too many bends, and it appears that a part is bent more than 90*, and hence, unrepairable. You'll need a new one. New headlight, and its looking like the headlight is moved, so the bumper support is bent, which includes the headlight housing.
If the bumper support is bent, there are a lot of metal bars, and will take a LONG time to pull all of it out. Might have to get a new one. They are like $200, and then of course the bumper. And if you wanna do the s14a conversion... you have to buy 2 lights, 2 new fenders, new hood, new bumper, and the bumper support anyway. And I think a new center grill.. and yours is gone anyway.
I think it will come extremely close to $1500 for the conversion, not including tax and / or shipping.

i rear ended a damn minivan that didn't use his turn signal on some black ice at like 10mph maybe 2 and a half years ago (i'll try to scan some pics soon). i needed a new hood, bumper, bumper supports, etc.. fenders, headlights, radiator, my car was on a frame rack for a while. all that good stuff. it was in the shop for 3 MONTHS total instead of the 4 weeks they promised at the beginning, damn Nissan body shop, i think i got every excuse they had (painter quit, another painter quit, employees on vacation, parts taking longer than expected...)
overall it looks REALLY good except u can see red paint when the black paint on top chips or if u look in the engine bay closely (the front clip they found was red). originally my insurance was going to total my car but then they found the used clip and decided to fix it.
total repairs was $4500-5k!!! i'm not complaining though, they did a good job since they had all the parts they needed from the used clip and they felt bad since it took so long and i was really patient.
BTW my black S13 hatch looked just like BlackS14 when i wrecked it, except my fenders were bent a little more. the great part is the minivan had a little barely noticable scratch on the bumper and all it needed was a new paintjob, $600!! oh well, live and learn

I think the insurance companies have already figured this one out... Between that and the resale value of s14's, my car could be totaled from a 10 mph parking lot collision! Sun - OEM = original equipment manufacturer. Yes, those are what s14's came w/... when the car was new, they weren't cloudy. That happens from pitting, etc.
To the rest of you - why would you skimp on an insurance repair to a late model car that you like? Sure, I could build a car out of JY parts... but why?

05-08-2002, 02:01 PM
Yeah Coldsun, Hipposleek pretty much explained it. All they are is just a brand new set of headlamps from Nissan. The reason why you don't see lights like this is because over time the pitting, bugs, sunlight, ect, all help the headlamps achieve that ywllowish tint we've all come to know and love....hehehehe
Bottom line is that if you're willing, you can just go to your local Nissan dealership and fork out $425 for a new set...they'll look just like mine.....only thing is, is that my insurance company gladly paid for my set.....hehehe
My lights will eventually get back that previously mentioned ywllow tint, but I'll be damned if it's gonna happen anytime soon.

i'd say... the damage is about $1,000, just shop around for parts. and go for a cf hood, so u don't gotta paint it! that's the way i'm going... i think...
Luey02 and 240meowth... the damage is going to be significantly more than 1000 (which is close to nothing) when all is said and done. Parts alone might cost 1,000 (mine did) and then there's the issue of labor and paint. I would guess you're looking in the 3,000 range judging from my own accident and others.

oh yeah - that's the other thing I was going to mention. My stereo was stolen (street value- maybe $50), but in the process, they broke my window and stole the entire center console except the shifter and the climate control module. Value of new aftermarket radio + install = $270. Total cost of repairs = about $1800. Fixing stuff right ain't cheap!

well a while ago i nailed a caravan also. i was doing about 25 and hit her rear bumper. i did about 4,000 dollars worth of damage to my car and roughly 500 to hers. how fast did your friend hit it again cause it looks alot faster than 10mph.

Well my first 240 i had, i was rear ended at about 45mph. I was at a complete stop. I had a 95. The whole trunk was taco'd in. I basically had no trunk. At a body shop, (one of the best in san diego) i was quoted $5,800. I didnt care because insurance was payin for it. I actually had him bump it up another grand and half so i could get rims and a full kit painted to the color of my choice. So then after the revised estimate, the insurance company just totaled it. That sucked. But i paid 9,500 for the car and 3 months later i got paid 12,500 for the car.

If you go to a shop that has a reception room and secrataries, they'll charge you for every little part..cuz they dont think money would be an issue since they're dealin with insurance companies and its easier to use new parts to replace old. The accident was my fault so I didn't want my rate to go up. Car insurance companies will not lose money<--- i dont get that.
