WOW, that looks awsome! What are positave and negative door locks? Which do we have? You could make it work with 5spd right? Just e-brake and neutral when you leave the car?

The paging system is always a plus
DSC i think you can, my friends stick civic had a alarm with remote start, he is a sound guy, i never figured out how he got it to work though

anyway sounds good, i might get it actually
the trick is find a guy that will do a good job installing it and a crook wont be able to shut it off in 2 seconds

There are many nice alarms with a lot of features out there, but I prefer Clifford. It well known by many to offer the best security for the vehicle, and uses some of the most advanced technology in that aspect. Its rather simple but it has served me quite well. I had a clifford in my previous car as well. Its really a matter or preference of whether you want more features or security as #1 priority.

also like Sun said, the install is a major factor in an alarm.

yeah i went with the viper 800, found it really cheap on ebay and its supposedly the best alarm they make

is there any way to change the tone of the chirps for arm and disarm, i hate that generic sound they all have, i love the beeping ones like on the toyotas and some acuras ive heard

my friends brother has that alarm (posted above) it loks pretty cool. I would prefer that over the aladdin, it has less buttons (less buttons = less confusing).

Screw alarms.....forget all the cool functions. I had three alarms one being a seperate delayed starter kill/anticarjacking Hofco thing....no of that works.

If they want your car they will take it. One thing the do is zap the chassie with a stun gun to short out the fuses then tow the car.

It takes less than 5 min to hook up a car to tow. Since it is not their car they will use a regular tow truck and not a flat bed...they don't care if they damage it....they're stealing it.

Just get a cheap alarm that has some basic functions and that's all you need. If they want your car they will take it. Just make sure you have good insurance. Also tell the ins. co what mods you have.

My FD was stolen with over 35k in parts and I've been fighting my ins co for over 2 months. I'll prob get bent really bad. They only offerd me 16k TOTAL the first time.

So screw alarms. Get a cheap one and a club for the visual effect.

umm well i don't know what you know about the 240 and the SR, but its illegal. I don't think its a good idea to tell insurance about it.

Best thing to do is park in a garage, and keep your car as a sleeper, nobody will want a that looks liek its worth 2K dollars, unless the guy is a 240 freak.

But in your case it was an RX-7, sorry to hear it was stolen, but that car is a pretty popular car.

rotaryknight

Yes i know the SR is illegal that's why you cover your basis by making sure that your insurance knows about your othre mods...that way you can recoupe some money back.

An alarm is not gonna save you if they really want the car.

My car was garaged kept....it was stolen when i was working..not only that I was working at a location I had never been before so it's not like they staked the car out.

FD are actually not that popular since parts are hard to move unlike a 240sx there are only a few thousand left in the US.

Unfourtunatly the car was well known and yes flashy....that's why I now have a 240 as a beater so my next project will not get stolen.

But who says i can't have fun with the beater. Already have the SR and parts on order from HKS....13 sec beater is not bad.

I'm with rotary knight. If they want it they will get it no matter how they have to do it. Its not theres and they will destroy most of it if they have to. Where I live all I have to worry about is break ins, if it can stop that then I'm cool.

the best alarm on the market (http://www.abq.com/downloads/art-jpg/pitbull.jpg)

Well clifford actually covers the deductable i have to pay if the vehicle is stolen.

anyways as far as stun guns, a battery backup siren would be a good idea.

and speaking of that, isnt there something called Auto taser where it sends the theif a lil jolt if he tries to steal the car?

I nono, but I hear it's good for preventing your car getting completely joy rided, unless they tow it,

shock the car?? dunno if that would really drain the battery.. That's why it's good to get a 2 way alarm that it pages you if someone touches your shit.. I would just pound the shit out of the guy..

EONE, remind me to put you on the top10 fav member next time, you always have the hottest picz, lol..

I agree that if they want it they will take it so I just put the club on it and keep it as a sleeper

Ive heard cliffords are the nicest alarms on the market, and also that companies like venom are easy to get around (for theives that is). Dont really have any personal experience with them, but its about time to invest. Im goin clifford style...

I gotta agree with Grant. Clifford makes an excellent alarm. I used Cliffords in 7 of my cars. You can use the remote starter on a 5 spd but just remember to always leave your car in neutral. On the new 7000 models you can use the alarm as a turbo timer as well. I dont know how its done or what the procedure is but it is possible. My friend is a certified Clifford installer and he said he's done it before. The cliffords also have programmable sirens so you can set it up how you like it.

YEs the Venom and Aladdin ALarm systems are very tempting, but i must agree with rotary knight. If they really want to take your car then they will regardless of whether you have a two way pager from you to the car or if you have a siren going off. They usually find a way around everything. Also the types of systems like the Aladdin and Venow cost a pretty penny to install I know from experience. I say just go with a few, fuel cut off switches and a basic alarm.

Man Screw that "If they want it they'll take it crap"
ive been to amillion forums and heard this amillion times.... and i'll agree its true, but that jus stupid to give up on trying to protect your car...
Thats like saying "OH I COULD GET ALL A's IN MY CLASSES IF I REALLY WANTED IT!!" but you and i both know damn well that i'ma get the C+ cuz thats all i need baby!

The truth is, yup they can jack ya ride/ tow it/ strip it in 4mins/ whateva but you can slow them down or atleast make them think about going for something else... If you got the lil club thing that goes on the clutch/brake that will slow and maybe prevent them from driving it away... and with a alarm blazing in the background it will help (you could even get a back up battery jus incase they pop ya hood and disconnect the main battery, shit you could even make the lever to pop the hood and trunk nonfuctional and put them on remote with ya keys) and with those 2 as long as you didn't park in hell, hopefully you can see them towing ya ish, i know i'll hear the tow truck in my drive way...

but yea, getting a alarm may not insure you beat professional thiefs with tow trucks and shit, but it NEVER hurts, especialy against Dilbert the neighborhood emblem stealer, Chester the town rim thief, And Rufus the county window breaking radio stealing CD jacker.....

anyone really follow this man's analogy about gett'n A's?? I dont.. I agree with him on everything else tho..

Let's work out some percentage for rubbing a 240sx:

5% of car thieves would jack a 240 rather than a ITR.(souped or not)
10% of them thieves that can disarm a $200 alarm in short order.
2% of those occasion only has perfect surrounding conditions.
20% of those times you should have your car close to your enough to get paged/or hear it go off.

If you guy would agree, my % are pretty up to par. so, if you multi. together, the chance that your car will end up on blocks is....

0.0012%

I think alarms do help, wouldn't you agree?!

Rotary Knight, you should know better driving a rare ass FD to have it parked in a area like dat..
