I noticied that I was leaking oil on my ka24de. I checked it out and it was comming from the oil pressure sensor. Do I put the wrench on the brown plastic part, or the metal piece in front of it? I don't want to break it. Also, could I just use teflon to seal it up or should I get a new one?

what kind of question is this??? of course on the metal part. plastic plug part will break. ALWAYS use teflon tape when screwing it back in. most likely theres nothing wrong with it. step up and get a autometer oil pres gauge, only like 40 bux.

how would you wire the autometer up?

I didn't know if the plastic part connected to the metal part or what. that is why I asked. I'm guessing you would just tap into the sensor for the autometer.

jesus.you guys are idiots. you dont tap the sensor. LOL.
the sensor screws out,
after you assemble autometer's neilon line, put teflon tape on the connector.
you gonna need an adapter too, its like 2 buck to convert STD to NPT.
then u put teflon tape on the connector and screw it in. connect the line to the gauge, wire it to a power source for the light and magic starts.

The OE oil pressure switch always leaks, it's not coming from the threads, the switch is blowing oil through the housing. Replace it, or better yet throw it away and plug the hole, or install a real gauge.

I got a new sensor. When I took the old one off it had some RTV gasket on it. I called nissan and asked if they had a gasket number or if I needed to put any RTV on it and they said no. It still leaks. Should I just put some RTV on it or get a gasket?

ALWAYS use teflon tape when screwing it back in.
IIRC unless its mechanical Autometer tells you NOT to use teflon tape as it will prevent the sensor form getting a ground and fukkup the readings of the gauge:p

It had RTV on it. It leaked. Now it doesn't have RTV on it. It still leaks. See a pattern here?
Like I said above, the OE switch is crap, you can seal the threads with RTV to keep it from leaking there but in 40K miles the back of the switch will blow out and you're right back to square one anyway. Should have put the money towards a true, accurate gauge or just plugged the hole and walked away from it.

when I took the old one off, only half of the rtv was on it. So I thought that is why it was leaking. I guess I'll just plug it up. What do I do with the wire? just let it hang there?

Yes. Tie it up somewhere, and you won't throw a light with unplugged.
And if you look closely at the plug and wire lead, it's soaked with oil. That's where it's coming from. If the threads were leaking it would blow back on to the starter and further back, not on the lower harness.

How does that look? Will I need anything else? What do you think about VDO guages?

VDO is fine, and that kit should supply everything you need.

VDO Vision gauges look better than Cockpit ones as far as the backlight goes.
Thats what I got in my car now.

just get an autometer off ebay. I got all mine for like 140 shipped.

IMHO autometer's gauges suck with the way bulbs reflect the light.
VDO vision serires looks waaaaay better
but they're still 90deg sweep gauges.
The full sweep ones are better and easier to read.

cool. I just ordered the VDO oil pressure sensor. Also if anyone could post pictures of the gauge setup. Also, where go I tap into for the oil temp sender unit.

Take old one out. Install new one in it's place.
