In late August 2004, I ordered a 180sx front clip from Jarco. I didn't finish the install until October 2004.
I immediately added a JWT Pop Charger, MR turbo elbow (make sure you use lock tite on the bolts!), MR downpipe, Boost Gage, Koyo copper radiator, N1 exhaust, adjustable t/c rods, Kosei 16x8 wheels, 3" hi-flow cat and KYB AGX on the rear.
I commuted 220 miles a day in it for 2 1/2 months in December and January. It was nightmarish: loud muffler, no radio and very twitchy handling in the snow. Luckily, I picked up a Sentra SE-R (aka 'The Classic') for the commute.
I spent the entire summer building a BMW M3 (E36) knockoff for Targa Newfoundland so I couldn't give the S13 any loving. Except in the early summer: I put KYB AGX and Falken Azenis RT-215s on the front. I also added Tein springs.
The M3 is sold and I've been driving the sh!t out of the S13 lately. I think this car absolutely ROCKS. It feels a little chintzy compared to the E36, but the thrills *more* than make up for that.
I've been daydreaming about other project cars (1JZ'd 80s Celica Supra, Lexus SC300, etc) lately, but that would mean, obviously, selling the 240. I've decided I'm going to spend another year with it -- ideally, by October 2006 I'll have added a GT28RS and all supporting mods (FMIC, Injectors, etc). Next mod: Z brakes!
THINGS THAT SUCKED:
-- Commuting. This car is bad news for long drives.
-- Snow. 12psi + Snow + RWD = sh!t in pants
-- The MR elbow bolts backed out on me and the gasket subsequently crapped out.
-- Stock Brakes
-- Constant retightening of the adjustable TC rods
-- Sticky BOV (or something)
-- Stock side-mount intercooler location
-- OLD Eagle GT-II 225/50/16 on the back. Eeew (Good for oversteer though)
-- Leather seats and steering wheel
-- Front license plate holder
-- Torque (or lack thereof)
THINGS THAT PWNED:
-- 3850 - 6750 RPM @ 12psi
-- 2700lbs
-- Oversteer
-- RT-215 Azenis Sports
-- Getting ~30mpg while commuting
-- VLSD + Snow or gravel or rain
-- Megan Racing (surprisingly good stuff)
-- KYB + S-Techs (comfortable ride)
-- HKS Turbo Timer
-- Horsepower
-- Coupe
