this is what happen
about 2 weeks ago i did an oil change on my sr, it was a pannic change becuase i was planning on racing later that night and i had dirty/dark/black oil (about 1500 miles oil)

i only had the car running for 3 months (redtop s13 w/almost all the bolt-ons) and always used mobil 1 15w 50
but i herd everyone with an SR was using 2050, so i got some... and a bottle of lucas. i never used lucas before but i was told by a few people that it was great. so i did the change and.. and started it up... oil light stayed on... let it run for about 2 min... then i herd the head starting to make a little tick.. ??TOO THICK???.. i turned the car off and drained the oil.and changed filter (lucas all in the filter (changed the filter). I tryed to flush all the lucas out, but that stuff was stuck on the bottem of the pan and comming out Super slow. I flushed 4 quarts of oil through the motor still the same. i let it drain for about 30 min. then filled up with 4 quarts of 20w50 and a half a cup of ATF. Started it up, the oil light stayed on, the sound was there too. At this point im thinking about how much a new block will be. Then after a min of running the sound stoped.. but the light stayed on... so i let it warm... the light started flashing, as it got warmer the light stayed off for longer periods till compleatly off (5 or 6 min.) So i drove around for the rest of the night with no problems, The engine acctually sounded great and was boosting perfect. oil was slowly *spitting* out the oil filer hole. good sign.
The Next morrning:
I start it up, !!!oil light!!! FUUUUDGE so i let it fully warm again and drove around the entire day with no problems.. did another oil change later that night and flushed a few quarts through. it was still comming out really slow..I got 15w 40 this time. put it in. and no sound but the light still stayed on..so i put some 5w 20 in to thin it out (1/3 of a quart). the past 2 days it seems good. the oil light comes on and flickers for about 1 min. after a *cold* start up though.

I cant belive i messed my motor up doing a fuking oil change... :bash: i still can't belive it.

what do u guys think? can the oil pressure switch be going bad? whats the chance of that happening, Im under the impression that its a simple on/off type of sensor. what type of oil should i run, i apparently can't run 20w50. and its getting cold out so im thinking about sticking with the stuff im using now.. the 15w 40. i greatly appreciate your input and relize how careless i was with a simple oil change.

Is there any reason why you're using such heavy-weight oils (AND additives)? Why are your oil changes so complicated? Me and everyone else I know with an SR20DET has either been using dino 5w30 or 10w30 or Mobil1 5w30 or 10w30 with no additives and everyone's motors have been running great (definitely no oil pressure problems)... some of them for many years with many drift events under their belts.

Aren't you supposed to be using lighter oils like 5w30 in colder climates?

yeah 15 might be too heavy for a cold morning? i use 10-30 and but im in socal so a cold morning is like 40 degrees or so, maybe wamer cuz i keep my car under a tarp.

anyways, if ur concerned, its time to buy a guage. dont wait for the oil light to come on before checking it out, afterall it is the "your engine is dead light" for a reason. oil pressure light doesnt come on till like sum rediculously low PSI and by that time ur screwed. so best bet, order a manual oil pressure guage , apex or trust if u have $ and megan racing or autometer if you dont.

i wouldnt be driving till u get it tho...
