maybe my situation is unique or maybe not

but for a year im trying to figure out what the hell was going on, sometimes the car bogged and ran horribly and sometimes it didnt

but the other night i remembered when i took the distributor off to get at the timing chain guides i never adjusted the timing, just put it back on and that was it.

Well a friend and mine advanced the timing (without a light, gonna go back tomorrow and use a light) and for the first time ever i can feel the effect of my mods (intake, header, exhaust) and the power is back and better than ever.

No hesitation, no stumble, idles as flat as as a board, and its consistently...perfect.

I thought it was a vacum leak, a sensor, a wire somewhere, and spend hours and hours trying to figure things out. Adjusting the timing fixed everything and now the car runs like a top. You should see it haul over 4000 revs now.

As an example, my friend has a 99 contour V6 and i never once pulled on him before, he always won when we raced. The other night we tried it and not only did i win but i was opening the gap quickly too

check your timing, people...

yeah this is a common problem. the usual place to check is timing and the maf to see if anything's wrong. good lookin out!

mine starts to hesitate and stuff after 15min of just driving it and doesnt like to go past 4500 rpms. Like i was pulling out of the gas station the other night and the gap was really tight so i said i just redline it so i dont get rear ended... well of coure my car wouldent go past 4500. Sometimes it does it really bad and sometimes it takes a while to do it. Maby boost leak? Im also blowing tons of black smoke ( hints the bumper is black and people have told me )
