i have a ka-t in progress it should be running 2morrow nd some kid in my school jsut bought a stock 2003 s2000..i was wondering with a t04e on 5-6 psi FMIC external waste gate the regular bullshit does my car have the balls to talk shit and back it up? i wwas guessing it would but i was wondering what cars pple have raced and what its considered compatition...nd im not some bullshit driver either i have alota auto-x time under by belt nd some racing schools and a good teacher and alota seat time..

sounds like you'll be pushing roughly 240-250hp? i'm no expert but i think thats the general range for a mild ka-t w/ that turbo... i think

s2000 run about the same as a mildly modded sr. i'd say kat would take it out.

ppl talk about ka like they are garbage... honestly.. whats so good about sr's? with the same amount of money you put into "swaping" a stock japanese engine in to your car, you can build up a KA anyday.. my friend has a KA with not even too much mods and it kills any srs... the fact that the torque a ka producess is enough to make up the weight difference... just tired of people acting all JDM... by the end of the day.. its just a stock engine with stock turbo and everything... it still only produces 205 hp and guess what? If it blows... youll need to spend your hard earned money on another one of those... where as a KA is up for grabs everywhere for around 200$ and you can start over again...

If you do decide to race I hope you do this on a closed track street racing Kills! it also attracts unwanted attention towards 240 owners (FIVE-O). If you have a lot of seat time with auto-x why would you want to compete going straight? You are wasting your money, unless you tell him to compete against you in auto-x.

Yeah, but lots of KA-T guys use that turbo. Most people are reporting 7-8 psi by 3000-3500 rpm with that turbo! I have that turbo on my KA, I will let you know as soon as its running.....


Back to the topic: S2000 vs. S13? S14? Doesn't really matter. The basic chassis is more than 15 years old. Its hard for older cars to keep up with newer cars. Its the whole package. An average Joe's "sport coupe" modified vs. a car engineered to go fast from the factory. I am assuming that this is a time trial of some sort and not a drag race.

I don't do "stoplight" racing because then I'd be one of "those" guys. IMO, they're not serious if they don't have any track time, so why even worry about what they think?

KA-Ts are pretty fast, but again, always someone faster. KA-T guys normally use T3/4s, and smaller, and this is the smallfry group of us, the ones that aren't super into power and that goodness. If you wanna kill anyone, get a McLaren. Or a bike.
