This should be no problem, this is minor, as long as the Cats are there in full function, not dirty, you should have a cool breeze tha day of the smog .. .. If the system is aftermarket, show them the paperwork that came with the exhaust system as well, reinforcement. .. .Get with it. .. .Just think a bit Duke. Good luck. .. .now if you have an SR, get the fuck outta here. . .Go study some more.

there is a HUGE list of reasons ur car could fail. Remember, millions of stock cars fail. Smog tests arent there to catch modified cars only. They also search the regular joe-shmoe.

Lay off the weed skip....not another sensei attempts at teaching grasshopper...less elaborating and implying and just a straight answer. Everything after the cat will not effect smog. Everything b/w the air filter and cat that has been altered could cause the car to FAIL.

was this a trick question?

no matter what you have AFTER the cat they dont care (right?), they arent refs

the cat is all that really matters, ive never had a smog place give hassles based on what muffler/exhaust system ive got

and if youre test only, you better go to a shady one, cause thats way more strict than regular, i got nervous with a stock KA

how would you know? :fawk:

There are many factors including the EGR, deposits and A/F ratio that will play a factor.

ok i m a smog tech. and i probibly smogged thousands of cars there is no way no one can tell u if ur car is gonna pass smog over the internet. but if u are asking if a exhoust system after ur cat is gonna make ur car fail? no it wont

and i hate idiots that think cat is the only thing that matters in a smog test

if the cat was moved at all it'll fail visual too. SHOUDLNT fail the smog though if its got a good cat and 2.5" exhaust.

Here's an idea, most smog places will test your car without notifying the dmv. This way you can know if you're gonna fail before you do and will allow you to change your car to make you pass. It's a lot easier than failing and having 30 days (i think) to fix it. Next time use common sense and actually learn istead of asking. Case closed.

i dont think they have those anymore. arco started that way back in the day. but state didnt like it and went after them sent them way too many under cover cars. most places now have free retest which u pay and then u get one free retest and the one after that is full price again

Some places will pre test for free.
It all depends on how well you know them. I have a place that smog tech will do that. It all depends on the smog tech. I could be wrong, but I think pre testing, without sending to sacremento is not illegal, if the car is not a test only vehicle.
It can be advantagous to the shop as well.
It allows the shop to predetermine if repairs are needed. Which breeds good customer relations. It also allows the shop to do repairs to get the car to pass . Its a win win for both sides, because if the car was to fail on the customer it could come up gross polluter. Which could make the car a mandatory test each year for 3 years and also label it as gross polluter for that period of time.
