Its not Legal. He either had some yahoo-local DMV issue it a title who don't know the first thing about Importation laws, or he swapped some vins and called it a modified 240sx. Last option would be he managed to convince them it was a kit car.

Take to another state, and they will look at it and go, "yeah..please give use the Federal Imporation Papers, Legalization Papers, DOT and EPA papers..." so forth. They would also be concerned about whether or not the car is stolen, from Japan.

Bottom line, DOT has a nice list of all foriegn cars that can be imported legally. The only JDM car that can be imported is the R32, R33 and R34 Skylines, done so ONLY, I repeat ONLY by Motorex. Motorex no longer imports cars, and a R33 would go for 30-60k by them depending on the car.


Buy this car at your own risk and the realisation that you stand a very very good chance of not being able to registar it.

wrong, if u got title, and register papers, your fine as long as it doesnt say 240sx, this car says exactly as it states, r33 nissan on the title, i saw the damn thing with my own eyes haha

i believe this car to be legalized, FL is a very lenient state being they have no emissions and there DOT & EPA inspection is very close to Indianapolis, and we have bought legalized and sold many LEGAL jdm cars.

Bwa ha ha. Why not read up on the subject before you talk. DOT has a very nice list of all the cars that can legally enter the contry. By the mere fact that you said they don't do any DOT or EPA inspections means the car is illegal, they just don't know it. Is it legal to have cocain in your hourse even though police won't search your house?

As far as "hating" no one is doing that, I'm just making sure any potential buyers have all the facts and don't end up getting screwed on this "deal".

The bottom line is that lots of states just don't care, they'll let you register and drive just about anything, and in those states, it's as legal as legal is legal. Once you've got that title and those plates, it's legal.

Sure, try taking it to CA and you'll regret it, but that's not the seller's problem.

If it wasn't so far away, I'd buy it. $16k is a steal here, assuming it's in the kind of condition people are saying it's in.

read whati wrote again, i never said they DIDNT do EPA or DOT inspection.
i said its close to Indianapolis standards which is very easy to get a jdm car up to standards.
and the list says what cars are legal to be brought in, not whats able to pass legalization,
trust me i have the list.
if the car is already here they can do a comparison of crash tests and match it to a point system.
some things will always have to be changed in order to make it legal, (I.E crash bars, door supports .seat height,window glass) and i didnt say it was cheap but it has been done
