I bought my car last year ('98 kouki) and I am the third owner. The first owner was a lady in florida and she sold the car to her brother, but accidently marked "not actual miles" on the title when she sold it to him. I bought the car from him, and he said he never messed with the dmv about the title but had all the paperwork to fix it and gave it to me along with a guarantee that it WAS actual mileage or my money back. Well, I went to the dmv with my paperwork and it turns out it is a PAIN IN THE A$$ to change, especially since all the paperwork (photocopied previous titles with mileage) are not really clear and the dmv said it would take about a month to process and it may or may not ever be changed.
Well this was about 6 months ago and I've been too lazy to fix it, just like the previous owner. Should I be really worried about it? I mean if I try to sell the car or whatever will that "not actual miles" be that big of a deal, even if I give them all the paperwork I got with the car? btw the car has 80k miles as of right now, and it had 63k when I bought it, bone stock. The guy was middle aged and the first owner was also, so I have no reason not to belive him.
If I do try and change the title, I would have to go back to him and have him get in touch with his sister and hopefully get better copies of the stuff, which I think is pretty much impossible. soo....what should I do?
