just wondering if anyone has any little tricks in making your tires last longer. i mainly use my car for drifting and just buy crap used tires in that back. theyre usually a little cracked and stuff but ive heard that if you put a little but of olive oil and do a little burn out with it onyour tires to soak it up, itll last alot longer. i have no clue if this is true and if it will work but wondering if anyone has tried or any has any other suggestions.

thats the dumbest thing i ever heard..........just rotate ur tires .... flip them what ever.. try not to look cool doing donuts and burning out and they should last awhile... ive been on the same set of z rated tires for over a year already

this is just silly.
drifting by definition IS destroying tires WTF?!
If you can't handle the cost of rubber, maybe u should be doing grip racing huh?

yah dude thats so true with olive oil u need some salt too cuz of the sodium in the salt makes the tires last longer also have u ever wondered why they put salt on the roads when its snowing u probibly dont know because it doesnt snow in corona but it does smell like cow poop and snow and salt makes a great mixture and helps tires last longer . u should put some cow poop that might help u might find a lot of that in corona but anyways also driving around 13psi in ur tires would also help them last longer.

1. dont do burnouts (key)
2. dont peel out
3. dont pull ebrake while going over 40mph

1) buy new tires, they WILL last longer
2) dont do stupid burnouts or manji
3) have a godo alignment
4) run minimal negative camber

Drive with no tires at all, that way you can drift forever.

When you are out drifting or whatever just keep a close eye on your tire pressure and how you're wearing. Thats is really the only thing you can do for this purpose

do what most people who care about tire longevity do....
buy the hardest rubber you can find and hard park it.

tires are supposed to wear, dude. when i put my HLSD in i HAD to go do some christening donuts EVEN with my azenis sports.

after experiencing the joy of the donut my friend who is by no means into cars at all agreed that its one of the coolest things EVAR.

LMAO . its really not hard. Dont try to brake fast for unnessecary reasons (showing off i guess...) or if if you have 2 sets of tires, [ good tires and drift tires ] dont use the good tires for drifting. BTW this is a very obviously stupid thread lol everyoe is saying the same thing. :blah:

Jesus Christ, did almost all of you not even really pay attention to the original question?
He was wondering if there were any tricks to make these shit ass tires he is putting on the back last a little bit longer before he has to change them out while drifting. Thats the only thing!!!!
Pretty much all of you are being idiots about this just looking to flame him when you are doing so in an irrelevant way. Makoto is the only person who actually said something not idiotic for the most part.

can't say ive heard of that, but it probably has something to do with either hardening or softening the rubber.
in that case, id save the guess, check, and money by doing some tire research on compounds and tread. then invest
Grip racing? As opposed to complete lack of traction racing????????? :bash:
'whats up?'
:'uhh, the sky, the lights, the roof..."
'im gonna get a haircut (not hair cut)'
:'why dont you get them all cut?'
+1 for "grip driving"

Ill be honest no. I didnt read the whole paragraph he wrote, cept the first sentence and topic. Now, to answer in a civilized manner.... I have not heard of putting olive oil and such on your tires to mak them last longer. I would research as one of these guys said. Sorry for the inconvience :-/

Um yes, that's EXACTLY it, wtf are YOU talking about?
he said he drifts a lot and can't afford tires, to which I basically said, maybe u should switch gears and try grip (AutoX, SCCA, et all) instead of drift.
put the crack pipe down my friend.
or perhaps u misunderstood???

Why is that called grip and not just regular driving? Every single time I drive my car I'm gripping. If you are driving hard enough anyway you will be barely sliding the entire time though...
He never said he cant afford tires. He just said he wants to know if there is anyway to make the tires last longer while drifting.
It almost sounds like he is talking about heat cycling the tires with the olive oil but I have absolutely no idea how that work on old poopy non race rubber

lol "grip racing" is like... the ultimate fanboy word.
You do understand, it's just called RACING.
Drifting is called drifting because your intent from the outset is to drift.
'Grip Racing' is called Racing because youre intent from the ouset is to RACE.
Drag Racing isn't called "Lose traction a bit then go in a straight line racing" it's called drag racing. Rally racing isn't called "Lose traction and get jumps racing" it's called Rally racing.
Sorry, I hate the term GRIP racing. It's just about the STUPIDEST word to ever come about the scene. It's called RACING plain and simple. You aren't scored based on how much you GRIP.

well grip sums up any kind of racing that is not drifting. auto-x, roadrace, drag, hell or even road-race. im not too fond of the word myself, but its nothing to get mad over, really
